Would like to say first off thanks for the wealth of knowledge here. Been out of shooting a while got the bug back. Figured I'd start back slowly with a rimfire. Now I sit waiting......... Ordered up a Savage mkii fv-sr, boyd's tacticool, DIP bottom metal and trigger guard, and some cci sv ammo to start. Hope she likes the cci as its all I could find presently. Next up I believe is gonna be a Vortex strikefire ii 4x12x50 scope. Rings I dunno. So many options. Gonna look at some measurements today and try and decide. Would like to stay in the 50 dollar or less range, anybody running a similiar setup recomendations appreciated. Well pics when stuff arrives, know you guys have seen it all before butt I'm stoked.

Really like the burris xtr's look. Think those in a medium height should do the trick. Looking for the measurement from rail top to barrel top to be sure. Rifle is scheduled for delivery tomorrow probably just wait and measure myself. Boyds still hasn't sent a tracking #. Site says 1 to 2 days. Tomorrow is 3rd may call.DIP parts shipped as well. By the way ordered rifle from Mace Sports in NC. GREAT PEOPLE! Best communication and hsd tracking # less than an hour after I paid. Even sent a picture of paid in full receipt, credit card auth. Slip and tag from box on gun.

I believe mine are the highs and with the scope cap on the cap almost touches the barrel. Very little clearance at all so it's right where it should be. I wanted to go with Burris Zee rings but the highs weren't high enough the scope touched the barrel.

This gap looks huge but it's really not that much at all

Love it. Got the first package today.

Well had a little setback. Had open heart surgery monday, at home feeling good. Got all the parts while away the DIP metal is fabulous butt as I had read one screw for the bottom plate (wood screw) is useless. Its just way to small. Didnt like the all black boyds, painted it. Pic makes color look strange. Might add some other colors not sure. Was at wally world and there in a clearance box was a Blackhawk bipod with swivel for 15 bucks. Yay me. Gotta order the scope and rings and it'll be range time for me and the girls.

Looks to be moving right along! Good luck on the recovery. While you have some downtime I would definitely recommend polishing the bolt and the inside of the receiver. I like the black outer appearance so I just polished what wasn't visable and oh boy did it make a difference.

Any pics of how and where you polished?

Thanks futurerider103 I actually found that post after asking. Thanks for the info cleaned it up a bit and it seems much smoother. been working the bolt a good bit and dryfiring(with an o-ring in place of course) to get used to the trigger.Cant wait to get shooting got 500 rounds of aguila match rifle and 500 rounds of cci sv to start. Just waiting on funds for the glass, surgery kinda bit into the cash flow.

What height rings? I fear if you get a 50mm objective scope they won't be enough to clear the barrel since you have a 0 MOA base. According to the Burris sure the mediums are .5in which should be enough even with a 25MOA DIP base. My Warne Maxima highs are .525 and you can see my gap with my DIP base so your gap should be about like mine.

I measured the height of my mount and using vortex's numbers(even called and asked the thickness of their flip up covers, wich they went and measured for me(Awsome!) I should be good.
.5 inch high mount
scope obj. to tube .72
that leaves the need for .22 plus .12 for lens cap = .34
.5 inch rings should(dare I say)give .16 gap with covers on wich would be ideal. Am I missing something cause I'm great at that?

second guessing measurement on mount. Also was considering the 6x18x44 ao. guess I'll get some accurate measurements with rings installed and decide. Have bad eyes and the extra magnification on the 44 obj would be nice.Any advice on the 2 scopes? The other is the 4x12x50 ao

Your math is correct but I haven't used either of those scopes but mine is the 6-24x50 and I got it because the higher magnification. I would get the higher magnification one if it were my gun. I personally think the 50mm is a bit much for only 12x
