I had a Harris BRM-S snap off at the point where the leg assembly is welded to the mounting plate. Now what? Replace with another Harris or buy something else? I really like the Harris but after some research it looks like I'm not the only one who's had this problem.

Buy an Atlas CAL Bipod. A but Pricier than a Harris but definetly worth extra $$$.
Everyone breaks a pod at some point when training. A Harris is not that hard to break, that is coming for a guy who has snapped the legs off of two USGI M14e2 bi-pods, getting small real quick.
Legacy AICS... so stud. It does have a Badger IMUNS mounted so it looks like I have some options
True, true. Personally, I'd go for the Ckye Pod or Atlas CAL if you have the budget.
I prefer the Harris, but it just can't take a load like some of the others. LRA makes by far the best, but they don't make a small one. Great for BMG's though. So if they max out the Harris easy, usually on heavier rifles, I use the Atlas. There's things I don't like about it but it is stronger.
So many options why handicap yourself with the Harris? On the lower end you can use the magpul, atlas, and you can work yourself all the way up into the MDT, Atlas CAL, Thunderbeast, Elite Iron, etc. You will never look back after using a better bipod. Yes its more money but its worth the upgrade.
Yes and so does a 308 with a Mark 4 scope. There are better tools that make it easier to get the job done.... hence handicap. By all means rock on with what you have but that doesn’t make it the optimal choice.
Yep I run two .308s and a .300wm with MK4’s and yes they just work, but I’d never sit here and say they were the optimal choice lol.
P.S. I use an Atlas on one of them to help reduce the handicap.
Got several 308 myself even got an old SS scope that is mil/moa but any gear that gets replaced gets upgraded.
Absolutely when the MK4s go they will absolutely be upgraded. Never down ground.
Yep those two + a .223 also here wear Mk 4's, all are M-3's save the M1 on the mouser.
Lots of better out there but, however these are knife fork an spoon tools to me. Besides I live in the real world, because of the real world I've been in, an will probably go out in. I tend to stay with what brough me to the dance as I've found the grass is not always greener once the dance restarts, or is over.
They go to bipod heaven, where they're whole and functional again, they laugh and play and reminisce about times long past when they were still relevant...

Not advocating for Atlas, just stating there are newer better options. The OP broke his Harris and wants options. If you want to use an F class bipod I'm sure it will serve you well.

Send it back to Harris and they will replace it for free (you pay shipping to them). I had the same thing happen on a heavy 338.
OP - By all means, upgrade from the Harris if you feel the need. But I'd sure send that Harris back to them and get a free replacement. Even if you upgrade, at the very least you'll have a spare bipod for another rifle if you need it, or you can sell it NIB to fund some of your upgrade.
My point is Atlas is only good for shooting off a bench or your belly. They deploy slow, adjust slow, and have the gay swivel thing going on.
Are you familiar with a scenario that an F class bipod can be used other than bench or belly? I'm not following your thought process here. The Harris and the Atlas are very similar in height and usage. Are you giving a better option or just hate Atlas?
What part is non sense? Hunting-Harris, match-Harris. The only thing I use an Atlas for is for shooting off a bench mainly with my 22lr. There is nothing an Atlas does better than a Harris.

How many are competing with a Harris bipod?
How many are competing with 308?
If you are a competitor chasing the newest, hottest trends to include calibers, chassis, bags, tripods, optics, etc. To get the edge guys are moving to the best equipment available. Each upgrade improves the scores in a small degree (time, score, options, etc). $200 for a bipod is almost inconsequential in the big picture of dollars spent.
For recreational shooters, who cares? Rock on, as you are not under time or rule constraints to make the hit.
You can't buy hits but you can certainly stack the odds more in your favor using the best equipment/system available.

I shoot a 6 dasher and use a Harris. Does that make me edgy? Saying a Harris is inferior has no merrit. Many comp guys use them because they just work for the intended purpose. Is the Atlas well made? Sure. Does it have some flaws? You bet.
Didn't hurt my feelings one bit. I use what I can to get an edge but I don't throw money away chasing the latest trends and if I see no advantage I stick with what I use and know works. Been running Harris for years in matches and still do. Just works. See no reason to change.
A Harris is in no way inferior, I currently use them on two of my long range guns, and an Atlas on another bolt gun. Both are exceptional products. I’ve never had a problem with either. I wouldn’t say one or the other is only good for shooting off a bench or your belly. Each has its advantages and disadvantages just like anything else. I’m not a PRS gamer so my bipod selection is primarily focused on the application of the rifle that will host them.

Waiting for your response. Not looking for a back and forth but seriously asking you thought process. Bipods are almost exclusively used for bench and prone use. Also they can be used off of barricades and such as well but typically in the field you would be looking at using shooting sticks or a tripod for sitting/kneeling/standing, no?
I would say that the Harris is inferior (start booing now!) That does NOT mean it can't be used effectively. To those who compete with the Harris, yours results will speak for themselves. As a recommendation to a new shooter getting into PRS would you really recommend the Harris over the Atlas? I have and use both and default to the Atlas as my results are better. Just as a matter of reference my favorite bipod is the Elite Iron so take it for what its worth.

I mean inferior is a strong word. If it was inferior you wouldn’t be using one, and neither would I. I’d first want to know how serious the shooter was about getting into PRS before making a recommendation, but that is just me. I say that because I like to buy once cry once, and if PRS was something I probably wasn’t going to be involved in disclaimer I don’t shoot PRS disclaimer. I would probably not want to drop the coin on them, but if I was then yeah absolutely.
Inferior may sound strong but is probably the most correct, maybe outdated is better. Regardless it is my last choice. Why do I have one? Because when I bought it, it was the best thing available. The only time I use my Harris is on a rifle that doesn't have a pic rail for one of my preferred bipods. Lets be honest, Harris is still selling bipods mostly because they are the cheapest option and we are all jealous with our hard earned dollars. There are those who have been using them for a long time and prefer then because they have trained with them and are proficient with them. I try to be brand agnostic when making recommendations, but will say that everybody who has bought an Atlas complained about the cost difference but were very pleased after shooting one.
Of course this is my own personal opinion and we are all entitled to our own. The Harris can be used to success, its just not my preferred method.
What I am saying is this: The 308, Mark 4, and Harris all still work and are very successful. Your success rate will go up with the same amount of skill using the latest fanboy cartridge, latest model optic, and latest model bipod. Otherwise why would we all (speaking of the entire industry) be chasing the Holy Grail? The advancements in the last 20 years are plain to see.
PS. I LOVE the 308 and will always have one!
Well said, my extensive training with the .308 MK4 and Harris makes me adore the three in combination dearly. I will say though. I do prefer the Atlas for versatility. My shorties though wear Harris bipods to keep size down. But Atlas is my current preference of the two.
