I seen the episode you're talking about, he made such a big deal about it. Everyone was freaking out. He didnt get shot at all, even if he did he deserves it. "Captain" paul watson is an idiot. His first mate looks like one of the whos from the grinch. I cant remember his name, i think its peter.

I lost it on that one. Standing there, hmm I feel a little pin prick, that feels funny, oh my, I've been shot, and I just happen to be the only one on the boat wearing a bulletproof vest, and it just happen to hit my awsome captain badge under my awsome vest.

Only about 20 problems here. a few off the top:

#1 - no hole in the orange coat he was wearing
#2 - there was a big ass caribiner hanging off his coat where he got shot, unmarked
#3 - Not that I've ever been shot, but you'll know when you have, with or without a vest, jackass. It's not going to feel like a little pin prick I assure you.
#4 - you've just been "shot", but have no enthusasm about it? No adrenaline? I think not.
#5 - Looked like a big ass slug and did not penetrate the (probably level II) vest which = a handgun round. Must be a sniper running around that Japanese ship with a pistol and a scope that is great at compensating for the bobbing of the ships.
#6 no sooner did he get shot that he slinked off the deck down to the phone to "alert the media"

Just plain stupid all around.

Saw this earlier today. Haven't laughed so hard since the thread about having a zombie plan. I don't even have to take sides. That was hilarious! What did the little boat hope to accomplish? If the goal was to anger the big boat, mission accomplished! 99% of all confrontations can be avoided. This was no exception.... And if you tried to break my propeller in the antarctic, expect similar repercussions.

Take a look at the wake of the bat boat. Noticed that it accelerated at the last minute. What a bunch of morons. They were lucky there was some ship in the vicinity, you know the Japanese ship would have not helped !

If I could eat whale, I probably would. No different that me LOVING SWINE !!!

These hippies are terrorist, they say on all the episodes that what the Japanese are doing is legal. I have never had whale meat could be the best thing ever I don't know. Might try it someday. What I do know is the Japs have been eating on the whales forever and are completely legal to do it, so I have no problem what so ever with the Japs. The hippies on the other hand are f-ing stupid.

This is untrue. The alaskan eskimos kill whales each year for their sustenance. The japanese do not. It is another part of the culture. They choose to use it as another extravagant addition to the menu at restaurants most of their citizens cant afford to eat at.

Definitely NOT siding with the E-terrorists, BUT... lets keep things in focus. The Japanese are not doing this to survive.

I lived in emmonok near the mouth of the yukon river in a yup'ik village and had the opportunity to eat beluga whale after they harpooned one and butchered it.
first: it tasted like crap!!!! looked like round steal tasted like the worst fish you can imagine.
second: they didn't waste a bit of it! not even the eyes, unlike the makahs on the washington coast where they estimated 70% of the whale they killed ended up in the land fill.

i watched one episode of that show and it gave me a nosebleed to see a boat full of kids with as much sailing experience as i have (canoe in a lake), trying to organize tactical naval operations with a result on par of throwing red paint on people wearing fur...

i felt bad for the captain for the sheer fact that nobody listened to him and he had created an unnecessary stressful life for himself.

i wouldnt call them hippies since hippies have no motivation in the world other than seeking pot and then seeking pizza, followed by seeking pot.

i wouldnt call them terrorists since the people they are 'terrorizing' are doing a better job of terrorizing them instead...

i WOULD call them NERDS, because as far as i can tell thats what they are, nerds on a boat.

I never saw that South Park it had to be one of the best ones. Not a fan of the japs. They feel eating all these exotic things will help there sex life. Either its a rhino horn,bear, or puffer fish. Too bad the sink didnt sink with on those liberal nuts on bored. I see enough stupid protests in manhatten everyday. Seems like the same idiots just a different cause each week. Almost like the movie PCU.

We allow the Inuits to harvest whales. True, the Japs don't need to hunt whales to feed the people, but it's been a part of their culture for hundreds of years.

AFAIK they're allowed to kill so many whales per year for "scientific research" with the stipulation that none of the meat go to waste. The whalers just say that they're checking stomach contents of the killed whales. While I don't necessarily agree with what they're doing, it is 100% legal as many have stated. The incompetent actions of the hippies, while entertaining, border on piracy.

International waters, I believe. IIRC, the area falls under Australia in regards to rescue operations.

Again IIRC, each whaling country sets the number to harvest, perhaps with IWC input/approval. And as Gix mentioned, the meat can be sold.

I suppose if you are a citizen of Australia, you could face legal problems for killing a whale.

The US could declare the same waters "Closed to Motorized Vessels" and it would carry the same weight.

Na I really cant say I am a volunteer! I think there methods aren't really working. Court action is the way Togo. Its becoming a bit of a joke really! Its a shame that most of our warships are over seas helping our so called friends out. Maybe they should sent a frigate out and monitor the situation. Maybe make a video for Australia's most funniest video show.

These fckn assclwns had it coming a long time, just wait `till the rest of the treehuggers have their "global warming" theories AND the mandatory (environ)MENTAL taxes shoved up their bodily orifices (its so friggin cold up here theres definately no sign of any global warming, although Id welcome it in a heartbeat).
Quite a few years ago, when Watson got himself a warrant for his arrest up here (I think its still effective, he fcked off before the coastguard could make up their minds wether to sink them or not...) I had a Tshirt with a cartoon of a harpooned whale on it, blood everywhere and the Norwegian flag flying from the harpoon shaft as a flagpole, and the text "If we had dolphins...we`d kill them too!"
