What’s wrong with this L3I elite magazine?

Heard a lot good words about the L3I elite magazines, bought 3 and tried the 1st one out, initially it won’t feed, bolt won’t catch ammo, noticed I could adjust depth, after adjustment, it started feeding, then started FTF, got the magazine out, found out that the spring stuck in the middle, follower is free floating as spring is stuck.

Thought it was a freak accident, I simply used a screwdriver to pluck the spring free and gave it another try.
Well sure enough, same thing happened again.

Anything I did wrong?

Only reason I got these magazines is because I heard they are superior to Vudoo factory magazines.
Well problem is all 5 of my factory polymer magazines have been working flawlessly, I thought I am getting a big upgrade with these elite magazines, oh well

Well, that is odd. Mine run flawlessly in both my Vudoos. Mavbe the spring is in upside down or something.
I have never had to pull one apart but it's fairly simple to pull the bottom off and see what is going on in there.

Just got them and this really doesn’t give me any confidence in them, might simply return them while I can, they only allow 7 days after receiving them for return. I would avoid taking them apart so I wouldn’t have any issues when returning them

I bought one last year and could not get it to run in my Vudoo or rimx. Reached out to L3i for customer support and never heard back…left a bad taste in my mouth.
Did you trying to adjust the insert depth? There is a screw on the magazine catch, you can adjust that to adjust insert depth. Mine wouldn’t feed at all initially as well. After the adjustment it would feed a few rounds then it would stop feeding because the spring would stuck

Sure did. Looked at the follower spring as well as any signs of burrs or issues from the printing and couldn’t find anything wrong. Been wanting to try the new aluminum mag, but still on the fence.

Maybe I just got a bad one 🤷🏻

Without looking at one I’d guess it’s either 3D printed or molded. Likely a burr or it’s slightly cocked and hanging up. As mentioned pull the base off and check it out
What he said. Might try taking it apart or running the follower up a down to see if you feel any rough spots. It’s hanging on something

I don't own one of these because my Vudoo polymers work perfectly as long as you don't touch them during the stage.
That said, these are good for a lot of people. But if that Spring is sticking in the middle of the magazine body, it is a burr, step, imperfection period. That passage needs to be as smooth as butter. No flash from the molding process. No steps no hitches of any kind on the magazine body internals and on the follower.

I will contact them and see what they say

How did you contact them? I only ask because I submitted a contact us form today at 5:02 PM for a spring hold down button that I sheared off fiddle dicking with it and already received a response back and a tracking number as of 5:16PM

I ordered 3 magazines total, took the other 2 to the range today, unfortunately run into issues with both of them.
Both of them won't reliably feed the last few rounds randomly, sometimes it's the last 1 or 2 rounds, sometimes it's the last 3-4 rounds, when this happens, the bolt won't catch the ammo at all, even though the first 10-12 rounds feed just fine.
Yes, I carefully loaded the mags up, actually load them with that little magazine loading tool.
I really wanted to like these mags, but have to submit a RMA while I am still within the 7 day return window.

We actually do not recommend loading the mag using the button, pressing the rounds in with your thumb while allowing the stack to remain under tension will prevent rimlock. You only need to reach out to us for support with 7 days, we have never refused to return magazines that a customer was unsatisfied with. It is possible you have a spring that is twisted and hanging up on itself. These magazines are injection molded and not printed, the internal cavity is created with a mold insert so there is no flashing in the channel. Email [email protected] and we will take care of you.

Thanks for responding to my post.

I am not loading the magazine using the built in button on the mag, I am using the Vudoo magazine loader. Not sure if you run a Vudoo or not, if you do I strongly recommend this tool to you, it essentially eliminates rimlock.

Not sure what a twisted spring is, but this particular magazine never worked properly right out of box, the spring consistently lock itself up midway, each time I pluck it free and load the magazine, it always lock itself up right away.

I have already contacted the email and requested RMA. Thanks again for your response.
