As the title says, what am I seeing in my scope?

It's a Razor 1-6. I have never had problems with it before, and after scouring the internet, can't find any similar photos of this.

If set my magnification to 1x, on the lower left I see what appears to be an adjuster with a screw or something visible.

I double checked to make sure I'm not turning below 1x and it lines up perfectly at 1x. For me to make it disappear out of view, I have to zoom in to approximately 1.4-1.5x magnification.

I contacted Vortex and have sent it back. I use this on my work gun for our SWAT team and really hope that they will just replace the optic all together. We will see what happens. But I'm really curious as to what I'm seeing as I really don't expect Vortex to call or tell me what it is.

Opinions?

Wouldn't have any worries if you get the same one back. It's just something in the focal plane (grease or paint on the reticle or in the rear housing I'm guessing). Their assembly room (gigantic clean room) is top notch. They can take these apart, clean, replace sub-components etc.. and put them back together like you would your rifle.

They gave me a 2 day air shipping label. I got it sent off on Friday, but of corse my local place told me it wouldn't leave their facility till Monday. So we will see.

I've been extremely happy with the optic for years. Loved it enough that I have the 1-10 on my 16" gun.

Man. I've been working too much. I typed ☝️ days ago. But didn't realize I hadn't sent it till just now.

Update:

Scope was received. I got an email saying they received it and would look at it.

2 days later I got another email saying that it's not repairable. I was offered a BDC or MOA that could ship immediately.

Decided to wait the 2 weeks for them to have more MIL in stock to replace exactly what I sent in.

Now just waiting the 2 weeks for them to get the correct one in stock for them to mail out the right one.

I'm very happy. Wish the MIL was in stock, but that's OK. At the end of the day, I'm getting a new optic.
