Listened to one of my favorite songs…hell, probably my all-time favorite song, and was struck again by how much we lost when Brad Delp offed himself.

…and then some other videos popped into my feed that took me down a deep, deep rabbit hole. I knew the song was good, but as a non-musician, I never really understood what was really going on, and just how good this song was from both a performance, as well as a technical/production value perspective.

Really cool to gain insight on the “how and the why” behind the music. These two reviews really stood out to me:

…and:

…and countless voice coach impressions and reviews where they were blown away by Brad Delp’s effortless movement across his 4-octave range for the lead and backing vocals. And all before auto tune too. Amazing song, and amazing work by the entire band, all tied together with Tom Scholz’ perfect mix, overlays, and production.

It was a really cool evening learning all about the actual music behind the song.

Cool one from Live at Daryl’s House… This song was actually the song my wife and I picked to play as the song for our first dance st our wedding, but then thought that might send the wrong message; ya know, it being our wedding and all! 😆

Still one of our favorite songs though…

Lots of cool stuff with a few "WTF did I just listen to?" that are the musical equivalent of a train wreck.
Lux and Ivy had a huge 45 collection and every song in this list they covered.

Two great legends together. She was about 19 and he was 28. There was a little chemistry here.

They didn't call her the Appalachian Angel for nothing.

Two more great legends together.

Who would have dreamed they would have written a country song about Milwaukee.
