I was listening to the Melvins cover of this for years before an older brother pointed out to me that is was an Alice Cooper song. Blew my mind. The Melvins album liner notes had no song titles, no credits.

That said, it’s a great song!

The melvins have a video of them doing a slowed down cover of sabbath bloody sabbath. It’s a very freaky video.

This song really hits home for me. Having lived in north east Oklahoma where I have in-laws and outlaws and now residing in the DFW area I have traveled the route he talks about many times. In fact I got a speeding ticket once in Tushka Ok(Pop’s Knife and Gun Shop)
McMurtry is an amazing lyricist IMHO
