Just ordered my first suppressor.

What are you fellas running that is quiet? I know some of you like the .300 Whisper, but what else is out there? I will download some .308s, but I really want a rifle just for a suppressed round.

I would appreciate your experiences concerning accuracy, ease of loading, problems associated with a particular round, etc.

Thanks,

david

I was gonna say .300 Whisper,.. but there is also the .300 Blackout, I am not sure about the differences beetween the two though, but it might be worth checking out.

Standardization is a good thing. </div></div>

And it comes with all of the R&D done by AAC, their 220 grain subsonic rounds out of a 762SD is supposed to be quieter than an MP5SD (and it hits alot harder).

Sounds like you got a .30 cal can. I have good experience with two factory subsonic .308 rounds. First is EBR Thumper. It's a very quiet round, but not the most accurate. I can reliably get 2" groups at 100yds through a Tikka T3 Tactical. More accurate, but with an occasional hot round that gives a sonic crack @1000' elevation is Corbon Subsonic. Most groups are in the 1.25" range through the same stock rifle.

What's really fun for me is lobbing them out to 300 yds. I bottom my scope out and hold an additional 20 MOA and can reliably hit steel at that distance with the Thumpers. The Corbon starts and stays faster.

I'd be careful about 2 things. I've heard concerns about SEE (secondary explosive effect) when using handloads where the unburned powder accumulates in the barrel. To me, it's not worth the risk. I'd also make sure you've broken in any rifle you use subsonics with. I've had several squibs, including a double squib with the Thumper. Not EBRs fault - mine for not breaking in the barrel.

Enjoy!
