Looking for second career to keep me busy & am looking to finally get a job that I enjoy. Would like to be a general fitness trainer at the gym and am looking for a course that is comprehensive, not-crazy hard, and a good value for the money. It would need to be primarily distance learning, something internationally recognized preferred, a year or less to complete, and the cost under $4K

Re: What fitness and nutrition certification should I

You need to contact the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) and discuss with them getting you CSCS on the fitness side. For the nutrition, if you want to be clinical, get your CCN (certified clinical nutritionist) through the IAACN. These are both well recognized degrees. If you don't want to be clinical with nutrition and just speak at the level of a trainer or fitness specialist, you will get enough of that through the CSCS. You have to meet certain requirements to sit for the exam and complete a course of self paced study, but it is well worth it. The NSCA publishes 2 peer reviewed journals that are full of good information.

This is one of the reasons that I like these organizations. They don't let just anyone carry their credentials.
