Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

"A false conclusion once arrived at and widely accepted is not easily dislodged, and the less it is understood the more tenaciously it is held."

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

If at first you don't succeed, try a bigger hammer!

And then the ones about "answering yes"...

ie - Does a bear shit in the woods?

How about this:

Does a hobby horse have a wooden dick?

Pope wear a funny hat?

Peanut butter come in a spray can?

or...

That's wrong like "R-O-N-G"

That's as wrong as two boys f***ing.

Some recycled, some new.

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

"Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter." Ernest Hemmingway

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

A government is the most dangerous threat to man’s rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.
-Ayn Rand

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

My Mother
"Go ahead son there is plenty room in the cemetery to bury you."

If anybody said shit in front of my grandmother, she would say.
"I wouldn't have in my hand what you just had in your mouth."

Don't remember the author
"I used to have to hunt for food now I just hunt for the hunt."

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

Some great quotes here! I've added several of them to my file.

Here are some others:

No man who refuses to bear arms can give sound reason why he should be allowed to live in a free country - Teddy Roosevelt

Begin each day as if it was on purpose.

We pay too little attention to the reserve power of the people to take care of themselves. We are too solicitous for government intervention, on the theory, first, that the people themselves are helpless, and second, that the government has superior capacity for action. Often times both of these conclusions are wrong. - President John Calvin Coolidge, Jr.

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

<span style="font-style: italic">"You seek a great fortune, you three who are now in chains. You will find a fortune, though it will not be the one you seek. But first... first you must travel a long and difficult road, a road fraught with peril. Mm-hmm. You shall see thangs, wonderful to tell. You shall see a... a cow... on the roof of a cotton house, ha. And, oh, so many startlements. I cannot tell you how long this road shall be, but fear not the obstacles in your path, for fate has vouchsafed your reward. Though the road may wind, yea, your hearts grow weary, still shall ye follow them, even unto your salvation."</span>

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” - Albert Einstein

"If I can't eat it, drink it, fuck it or fire it, i'm not interested." - Michael Keaton "Desperate Measures"

"Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke."

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

We've never seen anything quite like that before...

( a recurring one in my life )

Neca eos omnes. Deus suos agnoscet.

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a safe, pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally used up, thoroughly worn out and loudly proclaiming...WOW, WHAT A RIDE!"

"You can always make money in life, but, you can never make TIME. Once TIME is spent, you can never get it back. Spend your TIME wisely. Money will come & money will go, TIME only goes..."

"Their are those who make things happen, those who let things happen & those who say, what the hell just happened?"

"I'm no longer content being useless at work, so I've decided to take up golfing so I can be useless on the weekends too."

"We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!"

Nothing in the world is opened by mistake more than the mouth- unknown to me

The complacency of fools will destroy them"- Gen George Patton

"Men regard it as their right to return evil for evil — and, if they cannot, feel they have lost their liberty."
— Aristotle

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
— Thomas Jefferson

"Fortune favors the bold."
— Virgil

"When angry, count four; when very angry, swear."
— Mark Twain

"Abandon hope, all ye who enter here."
— Dante Alighieri

"We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it — and stop there..."
— Mark Twain

"They have sworn the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind."
— The Bible

Quigley Down Under

"You know your weapons. It's a lever-action, breech loader. Usual barrel length's thirty inches. This one has an extra four. It's converted to use a special forty-five caliber, hundred and ten grain metal cartridge, with a five-hundred forty grain paper patch bullet. It's fitted with double set triggers, and a Vernier sight. It's marked up to twelve-hundred yards. This one shoots a mite further."

Re: What is your favorite quote/saying?

Several years ago my little brother got arrested after he took a swing at one of Austin's finest on 6th Street. He was very fortunate that the officer didn't charge him with Assault on a Peace Officer and chose to instead to beat the crap out of him and only charge him with PI. When my dad (formerly one of Austin's finest himself) went and picked my brother up from jail he looked him up and down (he was beat to shit) and said: "Well, I hope they beat some of the stupid out of you."
