It can be hard to differentiate between red fox and coyote...especially from a picture.
Hard to tell how big those leaves are.
What we need in that pic, is a banana.
And this is a fine example of why the Laotoli footprints are bullshit. Not the missing link.

First picture is a female domestic dog
Reason:
-slow trotting print set, size of leaves takes red fox out of picture plus slow trot you would have seen second set of prints in the picture, coyotes have a longer gait
-female because the horizontal spacing between the front foot and hind, and mature because the vertical spacing between front and hind feet.
-coyotes and red fox have longer prints with more vertical space between the pads
But that’s just a guess…could be a mountain lion
