Personally, I can't stomach superhero/Marvel movies. The CGI action just makes me kind of ill after a few minutes. Made for the gaming generation.

Other than that Hellboy one on TV... never had a jones for Comic book movies. Not that I give a rats ass about "Black Panther" one way or another. I just can't deal with Wolvarine, Captain America, Batman or any of the other comic crap.

But since its breaking records... someone must have a review? Even a bad one? Hell, maybe it's good?

Oh and anyone want to take bets on how many beatings, riots, shootings take place at the theaters this weekend? Just 'sayin.

I saw it over the weekend.
It was a good movie, not great.
There were minor SJW moments, but they were used to explain character motivation.
If you are objective in regards to what was said, then you can accept it as a plot device.
I still think the first Captain America was one of the best superhero movies made, and I certainly don't think BP was better than it.
The character first appeared in comics in 1966, it isn't like they are breaking some new ground here.

Well, I'll take the risk and just put it out there, I loved it. I'm the type that just likes to be entertained and I think I can isolate all the political crap and leave it outside the theater doors to be able to just be immersed in a lot of big ideas on a huge screen with the sounds vibrating my entire being, especially since this was the first movie that I ever had to reserve seats in advance and they were waaaaaaaay up there in the second row...

I'm not going to wax in any way about what point anyone who had a hand in making that movie has to use it for a vehicle to push and agenda, hell if that was the only reason it exists, there are sure plenty of other publicized affronts to either partisan side or other affiliations that are far more overt and somewhat unavoidable. It was just the penultimate Marvel superhero story with characters that actually mattered to uphold what was going on. It didn't feel like an advertisement or preinstallment for more to come along with the toys and other stuff to be consumer fodder, even though Black Panther is already seen in the next Avengers preview, I really do think it stands alone and apart from those before it.

I would not call it a political phenomenon at all, just thought it was phenomenal action-wise. To me, right up there with the new Mad Max and Bladerunner if you've seen those, just very different.

I'm not huge into comic book/superhero movies, so I don't care if I see this any time soon or not.

But the press on this movie has me scratching my head a bit. I saw an interview of the star of the movie a few days ago, they were asking him how it felt to be the first black superhero, and went so far as to call him the "Barack Obama of superhero movies".

So does the movie Hancock just get overlooked? Or was that not a mainstream comic book superhero, so it doesn't qualify?

Langford, I think Hancock was sort of an anti-hero movie... but was funny as hell!

I didn't post this thread to get the movie panned.... just to get some thoughts. I can't do superhero movies because the CGI and pace tends to make me, quite literally, nauseous. I had no problem with NOE helicopter rides... or other interesting physical assaults on my senses. But these big screen action movies including all the Tom Cruise Bourne films... are just made for a younger generation who were raised on video games and massive sensory overload.

Thanks for the reviews everyone... I hope this movie is great. Love movies. But some I don't bother with. Not for any reason than... I don't enjoy the fast cuts and action interfering with plot and characters.

It’s 100% a useless movie, I all computerized, no real stunts. I love bat man movies, they are always good and looks like the closest thing to reality.
Spider-Man home coming is garbage
Wonder Woman was terrible I almost cried
Justice league was a disaster
Thor was an insult- no one deserve to pay money just to come into the cinema to sleep.
Back to black panther. I think it’s all psychological, the movie is big for the same reason Obama won the presidency twice. Go figure.

Every Marvel movie breaks records they have a cult following the size of apple. Personally i hate most Marvel movies. The exceptions to the rule are Deadpool, some X-men, and Captain America Civil War. The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, etc. have been terrible to me. I literally fell asleep in the avengers. I've never done that in my entire life in a movie theater.

As far as proper super hero movies are concerned..for me.

To preface, I think almost all of the super hero movies are fucking retarded or so over the top that they are just ridiculous. Other than some of the Batman movies, I basically just don't watch any of them at all.

After the first Spiderman I was out. Iron Man seems to be the same fucking movie each time and I have no interest. All of the other movies that I see a preview for, I basically saw the movie via the preview and already lost interest. They're just fucking dumb.

So with that, and all of the choices I have and already have little interest in, putting Shaft in a skin tight jumpsuit and giving me 90 mins of We Was Kangz superhero style is WAYYYY down on the list of shit I want to watch.

Personally, we're leaning towards a Batman marathon, and then probably Band of Brother as well as The Pacific,,, again. That seems to be our "finish off the winter" rounding.

This here type of movie, really ain't in our repertoire.

First off, it's a fictional movie, made up from a comic book. A setting where people do superhuman stuff. So, in order to that, I expect a fair amount of CG effects. That said, the action was about what I expected for it being one of these types of movies. My biggest complaint was the plot. It was lazy, and plucked from the social justice hall of fame. It did the character development for some, and introduced other characters. It was "meh", glad I went to a matinee.
