Rifle Scopes What scopes are you hoping for at Shot Show 2018?

Kahles (swarovski) needs to pull their heads out of their collective asses, and introduce a couple new optics at SHOT. I'm about done waiting on other options for my different platforms.

A quality 1-8x (or 1-10? :) ) FFP mil/mil at less than the Minox.
A USO SR8C replacement with a modern reticle.

Any updated 6x erector 4-24-ish FFP mil/mil optics w/xmas-tree style reticles.

New updated optic from Kahles in the 6x zoom range.

NF lpv

More HUD options (w/Bluetooth connectivity)...but I'm sure .mil will have them awhile before we can get them in NF and others.

Also a Mark 5 1-5 from Leupold...but based on some dealers pages that doesn't appear to be the case.

I would like a quality (glass and mechanics) 1-8 SFP with daylight bright (like an Aimpoint) illumination and a Christmas tree that gets a .223 to five hundred yards at 8x. I would like to buy it under 1500.

I would like to see further development in scopes that have built in LRF. I think there are some very promising developments there, but I do not know if they will be commercialized in this coming year or not. Generally, electro-optic integration will persist and I would like to see someone more competent than the current players (ATN, Pulsar, et al) step into that market. The technology is getting fairly mature.

I wouldn't mind seeing some further development with switchpower optics. Personally, I am not particular about having continuous zoom, so I am a little puzzled why Elcan has this market morie or less to themselves.

I would really like to see further evolution of Leupold's D-EVO. I think it has a lot of promise.

I want to see a few things:

1 is a compass and digital display for scopes and spotting Optics. Imagine if your spotter could call out compass bearings and angle to a target.

Similarly i I would like to see a standard mechanism for exchanging gun data that would have the ability to work with anything.

Imagine if two systems could exchange:
weather
direction
cant
gun temperature
windage and elevation settings
desired settings
ammo type

or 3 systems. Or 4. Cross manufacturer and no fucking around.

and finally, a SHV F1 mil-r 5-20x.

A 4-16x42 nightforce which would have the same size as the 2.5-10x42,a 30 mm tube, ffp , mil r reticle and a windage capped turret!the perfect hunting scope!

I'm excited to see the new grid reticle that Burris is developing. Hopefully that will be ready for SHOT.

On my wish list is a 5-25x50 XTRII with the new reticle and HD glass. Something they can still sell in the $1500 price range. Either call it the XTR HD or the XTR III.

I'm afraid it's a long shot though as I think the high mucky mucks at Burris/Steiner may feel like that scope would be infringing on the Steiner T5Xi market.

A Nightforce SHV 3-10 with illuminated center or dot.

Entry level scopes that put durability/tracking first instead of features and marketing.

Affordable Thermal scope thats reliable and useable.

I'd like to see Vortex come out with an update to the Razor II in a 1-8 or 1-10 range. I mean they already have 1-8 in the strike eagle line, and a decent 1-6 in the PST II line now. I can't believe that the flag ship line is going to stay in 1-6 range.

Would like to see Kahles field some new scopes, starting with bringing the 4-16x50 back or incorporate a 3-18x50 something between the mag range of the 312i and 624i.

For NF i'd like to see a competent tree reticle without the name Horus attached to it and a 400$ premium. Would be nice to see lighter scopes as well, though that's not much of an issue to me.

All around i'd like to see more Mil/Mil hunting scopes, be it FFP or SFP.

Would also love to see a main NF scope with a fast focus eye piece and where the whole ocular doesn’t turn, just a zoom power ring like 99.99% of every other scope maker. I don’t even bother to keep a scope cover on my ATACR......just too damn annoying readjusting the cover every time I change the power setting.

A high quality 5-25x50 with electronic reticle projection that let me download my own reticle designs to the scope at will.

If sky is the limit; in combination with Swarovski ds technology and centered aimingpoint in the fov at any range with 2000m laser rangefinder capability to eliminate the antiquated and slow dialing process of todays scopes..

3-12x42 AMG. Love the lightweight size of the current one, but too much magnification for me. I don’t currently do any type of PRS and a 12-15 powered scope is more than I need.

How about a Tangent Theta reticle with .2 mil wind holds incorporated into the Gen2 XR.... Gen3XR?? Seems like the easiest/best path for the most gain.... but at least some other reticle option with modern ballistics in mind.

3-15x44(or 50), 30mm tube, mil/mil low profile turrets, zero stop, side parallax, simple FFP mil-hash reticle of some kind (P4F esque ideally), 600gm, top level glass & mechanics

I find it interesting to see a bunch of people asking for a higher mag NF SHV F1. I'd also like to see a 4 or 5-20 but honestly, I'd rather keep the same magnification range and get a better reticle and 10 mil turrets...

I want a 3-21 FFP with a wide angle HD. Make the illuminated dot 2 MOA only when turned on. I can use it on three power like a red dot. Want to shoot far turn it off and dial in. Also needs at least 40 mils travel

SB Multi turn 2 turrets with H59 or LRR finally avail
A Z8i Swarovski that is like a 3.5-25 with 50mm objective for my 6.5 lightweight hunter
NF 7-35 H59

How bout a light weight (sub 25oz) long range (4-20x 5-25) ffp hunting scope with mil based reticle with turrets with audible clicks and accurate adjustments. Or just redesign the Razor ldlh and use something other than Jello for the internals.

How about an AMG version in 1-8 that isn't a fat bloated pig like the Razor II 1-6 lol.

I still want a compact and lightweight, 1" tubed, FFP mil/mil, capped but finger adjust turrets, higher quality scope, with superb glass, and tree reticle, like a 4-16x36. For my little carbines that even a SWFA 3-15 looks "giant" on. The small elevation travel in a scope like this wouldn't bother me a bit. These rifles aren't really long range rifles so 500-600Y is fine, and if I wanted to shoot farther I know how to use holdovers.

That would be really nice. I knew of one manufacturer that was working on a 3-15x36 of this type a while back, but I do not know where that went. I have been trying to talk someone into something like that for a while, but no luck so far.

Something like the Razor HD LH in 3-15 with better turrets, say like the AMG or re-designed to keep it even lighter. Tube size of 1" or 30mm is fine. A few oz for bomber turrets is no big deal, I would rather work out a little more and carry dependable gear. Also offer it in mils and both sfp and ffp.

I run an lrhs now and would be interested in said Vortex, though I like what I have. And I have, oh look a squirrel......
