Of course it's possible... but is an $80 Enfield worth it? It costs the same to fit a barrel to a junker Enfield (or more) than it does to fit a good barrel to the best custom actions...
And the .303 case and feed are going to limit caliber choices. Your best bet is to write it off and use the $$ would have spent just buying the barrel blank to buy a superlative Enfield to shoot. Use this for decor.
That said, if you did want to do something unusual (and it will be expensive) turn it into an African 'working' rifle as used by guides and professional hunters all through the last century. There are several old British Empire 'big bore' cartridges made based on the .303. The .416 Rigby comes to mind. The Enfield action is plenty strong and most of those cartridges are low pressure and were originally cordite. Put on a short sporter barrel, have a nice, plain, rugged oil-finished walnut stock fitted (Fajen sells them 99 percent inletted). Then find an old used leather sling to put on and presto, Africa professional hunter/guide rifle. If you can put on multi-leaf folding express sights, even better! And those are readily available.
Won't be cheap, but at least you won't be trying to make an Enfield into something it never was -- an American-type sniper or sporting rifle.

And if you do it right, you could end up with a valuable rifle:

Read some Peter Hathaway Capstick, Robert Ruark and W.D.M. Bell for inspiration... Or just because they are some of the most amazing books ever written....
