Im lookin for a scope for my AR. I have my mind set on the bushnell 10x, but I got to thinking today.

The scope will be used for long range plinking, target shooting, and coyote hunting. Mildot and Target turrets are important to have on this scope. I dont want to spend a bunch of money on it because I found the Bushnell for a freakin great price.

Would a 3-9 with clearer glass be better?

Would a 4-12 with not as good glass be better?

Should I get the fixed 10x?

So, Im at a crossrroad, what is the best choice?

Thanks
Shay

Re: What to do?

I have a NightForce 2.5-10 w/Mildot recticle on my RRA Coyote (this AR shoots 3/4MOA with a couple of different loads so it deserves the "good glass").

The variable (3-9, etc.) can be handy at low X for close work.

You can crank it up for longer distance stuff.

Re: What to do?

This is not exactly personal experience, but lots of guys on here like that Bushnell 3200 10X. I'm going to put one on a .22 trainer and see how it works. I figure for around $200, you really can't go wrong.

I know, Id really like a variable power, I just cant afford a quality one right now.

Re: What to do?

yes, you can afford an excellent scope. The Mueller Tac-2. While it does have covered knobs, they are resettable to zero, it is a variable and the glass is absolutely outstanding for the price range. I've had one on a 7mm Mag with no issues.
If you want the "tactical" exposed turrets, their APT is getting very good reviews.
The Tac-2 can be had for about 270.
SWFA carries the line of Muellers.
