Thinking about rebarreling my 6mmREM, has about 1500 rounds thru it, but has a big neck, .010" expansion, long throat, still shoots pretty good. But considering having it redone with another 6 Creed. Question is, should I keep the H-S stock I have on it now, order a barrel from Frank at Bartlein, and be done with it? Or get a Manners T2 and have Chad chamber, bed & paint it?
First option would cost me a barrel, chambering/threading/crowning...total-$628ish? 2nd option would be, figured it out last night, about 1700 bucks?

I know it wont be as pretty with the first option as with the 2nd option, and will it be as competitive with the H-S stock compared to Chad bedding a Manners T2? Thoughts?

What type of shooting are you doing? </div></div>

This rifle and the rifle Chad built will be used for 600yd BR and possibly F-class shooting out to 1K.

Re: Whats a guy to do?

Has the action already been trued/blueprinted? If not, add that in to the price for both options.

Why put a great barrel on an action that may, or may not, hinder said barrel's potential?

Just my opinion, and as always, YMMV.

Best,
Justin

Would you true an action that'll shoot a 3.5" group at 600yds?

I would I guess. It certainly won't hurt the rifle's performance.

Re: Whats a guy to do?

If it shoots damn near 1/2MOA at 600yd, I'd leave it alone until that barrel was smoked.

Get the blank and parts on order now for the full rebuild and when the current barrel goes T/U then go full monty on it.

Until then, throw lead downrange and pennies in the jar for the overhaul... done right.

Re: Whats a guy to do?

Getting .5" MOA I wouldn't do anything to. Maybe do a 1-2 turn setback but that's about it.

But if you're looking for us to justify your going more of a custom route, be our gust...spend the 1700.

I do have some rounds loaded up from years ago that I could practice with I suppose, like over 200, would be more enjoyable to shoot than pull the bullets.
