First time down here in a while. Wont like that last time I came. Already ordered a new one. Wind gets gnarly on the river.
Fair. I guess I’ll keep my kid off the rides. What was that you said a while back about how to tell if maintenance on amusement rides was current?
That one has served its duty and needs proper retirement.
Suggest scouts, VFW or DIY .
The 4rth would be cool to do a retirement / replacement ceremony.

There will be a registration sticker and under it, an inspected sticker if they’ve been inspected this year. Most haven’t been don’t yet this year though. We have been for all but 2 of our rides. The lights is a pretty good indicator too. The whole shows lights, not just one ride though. Sometimes a ride just gives a guy fits with the lights.
If you get me the name of who is there I’m pretty sure I can tell you the general state of their equipment.

@1J04 Jimmy, not at all impressed with Angel’s Envy Rye. Smooth, but aged in used Rum barrels. The Rum taste is beyond overbearing. Cough syrupy.....
My suggestion ? Go back to WWC Rye.
I like a flag that has seen some weather. Shows character. Like the great men who have served to defend and uphold our republic. Aint always new and pretty. Never fails and is always there.

I also like a proper retirement. Great great respect in a proper ceremony taking care of retired flags.
Hell, I always get a tear or two. Just reminds me of our old guys who pass. Often fade into the night with not much mention..... not quite good with that.

I think that between prices, availability and taste , WWC Rye is the best bet.

Nothing special, but they'll be killable come Hunting Season. 1st year being legal Bulls I'm guessing. The 'Toad' is down by the "D" Line. MP 32-34. He's a Stud already. HUGE Body as well. Most impressive Animal. I gotta get Pics if he'll hold still. Hangs right next to the Road and on that mound of grass on the sharp corner. I know you know where I'm talking about. I don't hunt that piece. I rarely go past Johnson's Landing.

lol I didn't buy the Fossil Creek Permit this year. Fuck it. I 90% hunt pretty much backyard also. Rosburg has been to good to give up on.

I never really hunted that fossil creek area. I was always on the other side of the hill in forks creek. Miss hunting there. Damn Weyerhaeuser anyway.
We will see what happens with elk this year, going out with the smoke pole and see if I can’t knock one down.

Wife is the local "Flag Cop". If there is one that needs retirement she will knock on the door and explain how crappy the flag looks. We keep a stock of flags and hand them out as needed. She is Naval Reserve retired and overly patriotic which is a good thing these days. I just pull up in front of the house and say "sic em".
Ok, this is really weird. I just got outta the Pole Building from piddle fucking around and moving crap. I came upon this little woven basket in a box kinda randomly and pulled it out. It had a charger and cable for 'something', and some markers, a peace sign on some sorta bungee dealy. I put it on the neck of an old bottle. Hang on, I'll go take a pic of it.

So there that is. It had some other crap in it like a few pens, an old ass cell phone, just random shit. Then I seen some ribbon and some sorta string, and a couple what appeared to be old photos. Moved a bunch of the shit outta the way and snagged the photos. I'll be go to hell of what I found. Hang on. Youngest Son just dropped in. Back out to Pole Building for Ciggy n Beer n BS. And I'll get that Basket pic.
So anyhow, these pics are from the long long ago. The "Frog Gigging" pic from an 'undecided' day in July of 69 is freaking epic. Jimmy be tan, and Norwegian Vikingish. I honestly remember the bamboo poles and green tridents. Usually gigged at night, with burlap soaked burlap sacks to keep'm wet. Or 'moist' for you sick fuckers.
The other pic is Jimmy bout the same time with a 135 lb Jack Rabbit. And some sorta Carbine. I don't remember that gun. I remember a bunch of them, but not that one. Anyone gotta clue? Bueller?
Hope ya getta chuckle. I did.
Now for the really weird thing. Bout 45 minutes earlier I uncovered my woven fishing Creels. The one on the left my Dad made in rehab after sawing off a couple fingers in a Shingle Mill up in Neah Bay. He made that for me for therapy for the other fingers he hit, but didn't lose. I layed alotta grass in the bottom of that thing and lined it with Cutthroat. If that thing could talk. Musta been 12 or 13 at the time. The one on the right his Dad made. It's a work of Art and I'm thinking it's time to clean'm up and bring'm inside now that they've resurfaced.
Nostalgic shit. Funny what ya find when ya move.
Oh, and that Mess Kit on the right. It's been packed around since I was like 14. I got the Canteen somewhere, I know I do. Helluva deal. Got the Pup Tent I bought and the Frame only to the BackPack I bought at the same time in Port Angeles. The bag finally gave way. But the Frame actually makes a decent Meat Pack.

A friend of mine is in hvac and another services appliances. They both have stories of house that they pretty much open the door and make an excuse to leave. Then call back and say they’ll come back once it’s cleaned up
The police, fire, and ems guys see the worst.
In a trailer park, in the farthest bed from the only functioning door was a toothless fat woman who OD’d.
The lead medic asked me to start an IV so I climbed on the bed (king size, she was in the middle).
Then I noticed the quart of lube and Hitachi “massager” behind some stuff on the bedside table.
I glanced at the sheets, choked back the vomit that almost made it out and all over the patient, got the IV, then worked with 3 other fire guys to get her down the narrow hallway of that trailer and in the ambulance.
Sad case of a mentally ill woman and a rough life.

It's blackberry season!!!! The wife has picked several quarts already. She says she has a recipe for a blackberry bourbon lemonade. Her cobbler is pretty damn good.

Other than a couple nips yesterday as I took a few quiet moments to remember my friends, those lost and forever changed, a fresh bottle of whiskey was crushed today.
Momma’s brother had a couple fingers and my FIL (to be) and I killed the rest......
We did a night swim in the pool and as I swam over to momma for a kiss, she let me know I reeked of whiskey..... I let her know it was all her dad’s fault..... and that is part of being with me, that I smell of whiskey some times.
She smiled, told me she loves me, and gave me a kiss.
Life is good.
How did i become so blessed? Grateful I am.
