In 2002 when I got my first new truck with in the first 30 days I had a quarter sized hole in the bed from and engine block. And within 100 days after that I took it down a very very over grown ATV trail. Big crew cab F350. In my defense the ATV trail used to be a forest service road to some great camping when I was a kid. I wanted to take my wife and child to my old camping grounds. Unbeknownst to me a rock slide happened in the mid 1990's and the forest service never cleared it.

You'd probably appreciate my high school buddy Brian Hyerstay. We were in high school in '74-'76 and had automotive shop together, Brian was the quiet focused kid in class and somewhat the teacher's pet (Jim Arch RIP). When the class was in session Brian would be doing his thing somewhere in the shop. One day I was watching what he was doing as it was more interesting than the days lesson.... he had a VW head on the bandsaw and was sectioning it. His goal was to install GM 2.02" intake and 1.60" exhaust valves in a VW head because the GM 2.02 Fuelie heads were the cats ass back then thanks to the '69 DZ1 302 Z/28 motor.

I really enjoy the power delivery of my built EJ-25 but of all the cars I've had and worked on over the years those motors are a true PITA to work on. I'm running the OEM exhaust from a Cobb downpipe back so it's quiet but still manages 292hp@5900/362tq@3400 to the wheels.

We cooled off yesterday and today's supposed to be about the same. Monday was 98 in Kirkland/Totem Lake. I like morning fog, particularly in the summer when it burns off mid morning/mid day. Actually, love in the fall when it does that. Riverfishing

At least I can take my bug motor out by myself in under an hour or two depending on how motivated I am. Nothing like a small block cheby though. Grew up on home built monster cars and never truly lost the passion. Have had many cars in the past but taking it slow getting into cars again with this bug. I enjoy working on my '69 Camaro SBC, this thing not at all. It's all contortionist work.
