I think my new cat is eating these around my place. I used to see quite a few, but lately not so much. That pic I posted is about 300 yards from my back deck, so my chickens and dogs are being watched closely. Here's the wildest thing around here....

Are you able to kill the cat there or is there a season? Here, there is no season and fair game year around as they’re considered a predator.I think my new cat is eating these around my place. If it is a bobcat, they are in season now anyway. If it were out of season, my understanding of the hunt reg is if it is to save farm or domestic animals, it can be out down as well. I’d just have to call the local warden, I don’t think she’d have anything to say. The biggest IF comes down to it being a juvenile lion. The reason being is they are said to be extinct in this area for the last handful of years. If it is a true wild cat and not someone that has imported it OR let it go, I’m thinking there will be a lot of hubbub about it. That being said, the henry 22 mag is attached to my hip. If it is a bobcat and is seen, it will be dispatched. They are overwhelmingly populated here from my understanding. Are you able to kill the cat there or is there a season? It looked to me like a cougar in your game cam pic. If it was a bobcat and wasn’t bothering my stock, it would probably get a pass. Lion/cougar- DRT.If it is a bobcat, they are in season now anyway. I've never mounted an animal. Fun or professionally.@tnichols
Generally I am the same train of thought guy. I do however think a bobcat mount would look nice in my gun room. With that being said, I’m 41 and have never mounted an animal professionally, so chances are I’ll never shoot it. Unless it is in the yard yard and messing with the cluckers. They currently stay on their toes playing chase with a baby hawk that was born this year. His eyes are big enough to hit them, but when he gets close enough, he realizes they are bigger………for now
Liar.I've never mounted an animal. Fun or professionally.![]()
Not likely a feral cat. Here is a cat in the same position as the other one. It’s clearly smaller. State wildlife biologists initial impression is a large bobcat. He is gonna look closer and have some others look as well. Said we should hear back from him today hopefully.Feral cat.
State wildlife biologist thinks not, but he is getting another opinion or two from the smart guys around.Thats a mtn lion.
Nice
My money is on Mt Lion.Changing some cameras around to find out what kind of kitty kitty I have roaming the place. View attachment 7733922
And that was my second impression. First was bobcat due to spotted lower legs, but thought maybe it could be mud. My biggest wonder on lion is this. I live in eastern NC. There has not been a confirmed, legit sighting or killing of a WILD lion since the 1920s. There were a couple of “domesticated” ones killed in the 80s. Tons of people have said they have seen one, including a guy who lives about 15 miles down the road from me. Well within the range of a full grown lion. I am attaching another picture of the thing he caught on camera. Look closely and you can see it’s tail. He has said all his deer have pulled a vanishing act on this 75 acre plot.My money is on Mt Lion.
Geometry of the body to legs and length.
