Wheels coming off Assad regime

And most of this would mean absolutely nothing to the Joe Average American if we had energy independence at home - something we were achieving under Trump. Yet one more reason they want(ed) him gone. Energy independence not good for global "bidness." Disgusting approach to "policy." True energy independence, unlike what the greenies want, is a plethora of sources: solar, wind, hydro, nuclear, coal, petroleum distillates.

What’s over under on King Abdullah?

No fan of Kingdoms but dude has lead a stable and peaceful country.

When will neocons have him in their sights to be replaced by a homicidal regime?
There is some thought here that Jordan is in a tight spot. A lot of Palestinians live there, so it could get amped up. There is also the Greater Israel plan that is in the offing, and it is a pretty big insult to Jordan.

Kind Abdullah of Jordan is very westernized, about 10 or 15 years ago he took a harley road trip through arizona, california and oregon/idaho. He's not stupid either, was educated in England, is a pilot iirc.

Spot on here. He's fairly tame as far as M.E. leaders go and I think he spent quite a bit of time in the USA. That's pretty much game-set-match for the globalist war lords who want constant turmoil.

We didn't learn much from axing Saddam did we? Yes, bad man...no doubt....but he kept the peace in his country (Sunni and Shia) which is more than I can say currently about the majority of the M.E. Iraq was fairly secular and he kept it that way. Am I a Saddam fan - F no. But, to think just removing despots and letting people take over is a good plan (unless you want permanent war) is about as insane of idea as there is.

they took 500k palestinian refugees in 1970. they now have 2.5 million. not exactly genocide numbers.
I know I’m friends with some Jordanians. I’ve heard all about it. They’re really cool people.

It’s interesting hearing their perspective because their family was actually split up by the war when Jordan Egypt and Syria decided to attack Israel. As Kayed says we got our asses kicked and now you guys pay off our king. Their father who passed away of cancer about five years ago is also one of the pilots flying weapons into Jordan that were going over to Syria

He was here in VT on his big BMW Dakar a few years. Very incognito. But bigtime riding enthusiast! For all the right reasons.

And very Western-oriented. Which probably makes him a big target for the ISIS-types.

''But “independent and unbiased” fact-checkers Verify-Sy published a detailed report Sunday saying that the seemingly innocent prisoner was actually Salama Mohammad Salama — a first lieutenant in Syrian air force intelligence with a long history of alleged war crimes.
“We have subsequently been investigating his background and are aware that he may have given a false identity,” CNN acknowledged to The Post. “We are continuing our reporting into this and the wider story.”
The CNN story last week showed Ward and a camera crew, escorted by a rebel fighter, visiting a former Syrian air force intelligence headquarters in Damascus and freeing the man who was found under a blanket locked in a windowless cell.
He gave his name as Adel Ghurbal and claimed to have been arrested by government authorities three months earlier — and said he had no idea the Assad regime had collapsed.''

maybe not exactly a "fake" prisoner. one story says he ran afoul of the regime (perhaps because he's a scumbag) before the fall of the regime.

But that would put HTS in the hands of NATO, not Turkey. And there are reports that HTS has been working with Russia to secure and keep the facilities for Russia. Reports are conflicted as to where Turkey stands and what they are up to, as usual.

i have no idea when iran is lying, except when the government tells me they are lying.
of course, that is the same government that constantly lies to me.

Whatever is going on over there right now is more confusing and schizophrenic than trying to repair the wiring and innards of a copy machine that had been completely caved in during an office freakout...

America's Own Assad: Egypt Under Sisi Has 70,000 Political Prisoners

As this year comes to an end, the most populous Arab country remains a stagnant mammoth with a slowly rotting political order, lacking domestic legitimacy and kept alive only by a continuous lifeline of cash from the West and Arab Gulf states who fear the repercussions of the Egyptian regime’s implosion. From an active regional hegemon under previous regimes, Sisi’s Egypt is now dependent on foreign loans, grants and continuous bailouts by regional and international donors who see Egypt as "too big to fail" and do not want to risk further instability in the Middle East.

Sisi got rid of the Muslim Brotherhood therefore he is a pariah to the neo-cons.

Kerry’s state department started the boycotts of Egypt when Sisi had his coup.

Remember before Sisi Coptic churches were burning.

Along came this army dude that wanted to put into operation all his education from Operation Bright Stars and School of the Americas.

Under the MB the history channel Egyptian archeologist disappeared only to return when Sisi was in power.

‘Nother case of America screwing the pooch.

I thought Sisi was worth a chance so therefore he must go.

Just because he did something good does not mean he cannot do anything bad. Just sayin...
Best that can be hoped for over there is a secular dictator that is ruthless to his political rivals but basically let’s everyone function to at least the lowest common denominator “peacefully”.

Egypt has agriculture and tourism based on its history.

It can’t function as a closed, threatening tyrrany.

The world needs that place to be comfortably functional to the extent it’s people desire.

Saddam was ousted because the Israelis wanted him gone. He had been funding Palestinian suicide bombers' families with $20k per successful SVIED detonation or terrorist attack, and the Israelis had been badgering Clinton to take him out throughout the 1990s.

Most of Bush Jr.’s cabinet members made sure to sanitize their memoirs of the Israeli influence in kicking off OIF, but Bush himself let it out of the bag in Decision Points.

Israelis used us to do the job for them, which is why there wasn’t a coherent plan for after Saddam was captured. If there was, they never communicated it to the American people and never executed one in-theater.

The Israelis do get along well with Jordan, the Saudis, the Turks, UAE, and even Egypt behind the scenes. All of those nations have pretty close working relationships to deal with terrorism. The people of all those nations hate the Israelis.

Israel and Syria/Alawites didn’t get along though, obviously. Some of the largest battles of the late 20th century and early 21st century were fought between them.

The largest eradication of MiGs in a 2-day period happened over the Bekaa Valley battle in 1982. Israelis shot down 82-84 Syrian fighters and aircraft using F-15s and F-16As, guided by E-2C AWACS that had been modified to allow the Radar to actually work over land.
