On Friday, the Army’s top officer ordered a safety stand-down and grounded all non-critical helicopter units.

AP reports, “The suspension of air operations was effective immediately, with units grounded until they complete the training, said Lt. Col. Terence Kelley, an Army spokesperson. For active-duty units, the training is to take place between May 1 and 5. Army National Guard and Reserve units will have until May 31 to complete.”

As usual performative taskers to help us feel like we‘re doing something to address the cause of the accidents. Newsflash, RTAG and the commercial airline world have made it too sweet a deal to leave active duty by any means. Better pay and you know when you’re going to be gone? Nice. The lack of experience within our RW fleet is showing. We’ve been here before. Just look at the accident rate after the early-mid 90’s drawdown. Sad.

Boeing partnered with SAAB and getting parts is a big part of the delay. Remember that time in 20/21 everyone decided to shut down their economies over the bat virus. That is bitting them in the ass here.

I wonder and this is pure speculation, that the F-35 sucking up potential Gripen sales is one of the reasons for the partnership. There are already US partner nations that have the T-50( South Korea ) and Aermacchi M-346(Italy) which do basically the same thing and are already mature designs. Its just a trainer, it doesn't need to be ground breaking. Being as we are stepping on Saab dick big time they are kicking this project back to the Swedes to pacify them, as the F-35 basically killed billions in Gripen sales.

I think the "its for the women" ejection seat thing is fluff. The stated issue is the deceleration parachute on the seat pulls too many G for a light person, potentially causing a conlcussion. I here rumors its not a seat problem but was a sensor issue in the test dummy.

But it sounds really progressive... we are making it safe... you know, for the women. In a jet that got its name from the Tuskegee airmen.

Those airmen were good Pilots.

Just like to add my grandpa was army aircore, from a small podunk town not far from Tuskegee, grew up picking peanuts and cotton. He was also pushed out of the airforce in 57 for canvassing predominantly black neighborhoods, to get them to vote.

Air Force is definitely trying to revision their racist roots.
