Where are all the HS Precison rifles

What happened to HS Precision? 10 years ago they were being used alot, and today I never hear anything about them. I have noticed that they now have horrible resale value. I recently purchased a PHR from Gunbroker in 300 WSM for about half price. I was almost ready to order a GAP non typical, but could not pass up on the HS Precision at that price. Cant wait to get it and try it out. So, does anyone shoot HS Precision rifles anymore?

I know the quality of the customer guns started going down hill after them and fn got the FBI contract. Also they have not kept up with the time as far as options on the gun especially with stock configurations.

I picked up one of their PHR's in 325WSM from Mile High Shooting on clearance. With free shipping it ended up like 40% off. Love it--shoots ragged little .3 and .4 moa bug holes with nosler factory ammo. I'll work up a load when I go through the last two boxes, so not sure of the rigles full potential.

Also gave one of their handguns in 243 the I traded into from a buddy--another ragged hole gun.

Pleased with my experience so far.

For those of you who do not know, Mr. Horiuchi is a FBI HRT Sniper who was involved in the 1992 Ruby Ridge standoff. He was charged with manslaughter for the death of Vicki Weaver. He was the police sniper who, while shooting at Kevin Harris, missed and struck Vicki Weaver while she was holding her 10 month old child, killing her.

The rifle he used was an HS Precision. It seems that ever since then, the actions of Mr. Horiuchi and his use of the rifle have colored each other in a negative way. Go figure...

I also looked very hard at HS Precision but when I spoke with the people there, I was not overly impressed, especially considering they are asking almost $5k for their custom rifles. The nice thing is that they make all components to their rifles. I went with GA Precision instead.

Can someone explain this too me as I was not alive, internet "news" and I know it's not reliable says horiuchi couldn't see Vicki weaver behind the door and it was purely accidental I'm not disagreeing I'm just asking what he did wrong for my own knowledge. Was Vicki weaver a person of interest in the ruby ridge scenario?

That is true, but 3/4 of the guys on this site have never been in a real tactical situation and judge things they know nothing about. That being said there are some guys that know a lot valuable information as well.

I read the book, "Every Knee shall Bow" by Jess Walter, which is now published as "Ruby Ridge: The Truth and Tragedy of the Randy Weaver Family." According to Walter, Vicki Weaver was NOT a person of interest. Mr. Horiuchi was aiming for Randy Weaver when he moved out of the way, exposing Vicki Weaver to the shot. In my opinion, it was purely accidental. You could argue that Randy Weaver was just running into his house when the shot was fired.

Mr. Horiuchi was indicted for manslaughter but the case was dismissed on grounds of sovereign immunity.

Cold Zero is another good read but its not just about ruby ridge and you get it from HRT's perspective... H.S. precision makes good stocks mostly circa 1990's style and standard hunting stocks.

I have studied the case and I am an ex-swat officer and have ten years experience in law enforcement. For what its worth, I think the dude was alright.

Whether he was in the right or not, and I don't really have an opinion on that, it was a bad marketing move by HS Precision for the very reason that there is controversy surrounding Ruby Ridge... They might as well have photoshopped a picture of Lee Harvey Oswald holding an HS Precision rifle for an ad poster.

Most people are to afraid to show pics or admit they own something with a HS stock for fear of being accused of a killer lover.
I don't think Lon shot my gun during it's test fire while at Remington. Not saying what he did was right or even justified, but that is something Lon has to deal with when he meets his maker. I wonder how many people that cut up their HS stocks in protest drive Fords cars and trucks to this day? Considering Ford knew their Pintos were going to kill people in rear end accidents, but figured it was cheaper to pay the familys then to recall the cars for repairs.


My older 700 PSS. shoots like a dream, just wish I had money for a nice scope for her. This is in .308, and would love to get one in .223 someday.

I've been running one for 5 years and I would call it (them) solid. We're in the process of replacing them and HS is not on the list. I would not hesitate to buy one on a great deal for personal use.

Lon Horiuchi was wrong taking ANY shot at Ruby Ridge. The whole thing was wrong from the start. I like my H-S Stock but Lon and the rest of the goons at Ruby Ridge should answer for what they did .Reno and her goons should answer for Waco. But they won't on this earth but killers of women and children have a special place in hell.

I have 3 HS rifles. 308, 300 Win Mag and 338LM. They perform as advertised. I am very satisfied. I particularly appreciate that they make the entire rifle, except for a few screws. Just what does GAP make? HS makes excellent rifles, Wash. D.C. makes assassins.
