Which Case Trimmer?

Hello All,

Looking to purchase my first case trimmer and I just wanted to get some feedback from the experienced reloaders. I have a few trimmers that I like such as the Sinclair Trimmer, Little Crow, and the Frankfort Arsenal but I each have their own advantages such as speed, trim length accuracy and so on. Or should I just bite the bullet and save up for the Giraud? Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

Also to add further, the extent of my reloading will mostly be done for precision rifle as I have no desire to reload pistol ammo.

If you’re doing 50 or less at a time I’d probably stick with a Wilson. More than that and I’d go with a Giraud or maybe a Trim-It for less money.

The Giraud power case trimmer is the most beloved thing in my reloading room. Once you have one you’ll never go back.

Giraud, hands down, no question. If you have the scratch, you will not regret it.

I ordered mine 3 or so years ago but it only took a week or two. Just call and ask the woman answering the phone is super nice.

Hard to argue with the giraud. Set up properly, the chamfers on inside and out are very nice

The only other trimmer I would look into would be the Dillon RT1500. Great for really high volume stuff and converting 5.56 to 300 blackout if you’re into that sort of thing.

Also a sick trimmer but the setup is a limitation for me

The Giraud is the only trimmer worth spending money on if you shoot a lot.

While I'm a Giraud owner and will agree with the others who say once you go Giraud, you'll never look back, I have to ask how many calibers you're loading for. If you're loading for several, the Giraud is the only way to go, in my opinion. Set up the cutter blade properly, set the case holder with a lock ring for repeatable results, and you can swap them out in no time flat. But if you're only loading for one caliber, it's a lot of money for a single cartridge. I'm not saying it won't be worth the investment, just that I would understand if you went a different direction.

Hate to drop the money on the Giraud but I plan on reloading for a good portion of my life so I assume spend the extra money and get quality equipment rather than buy a cheaper trimmer then want to upgrade down the road.

I have the Trim-It II and I love it. Is it better than a Giraud? Nope. But for 130 bucks it’s a great trimmer that does the same thing.
