I just purchased a Magpul PRS for my LMT MWS and am trying to figure out which length Accushot monopod would fit best. I shoot primarily prone on a mat with my Harris bipod in the mid to lowest positions. I'm leaning towards the mid length Accushot (4.75 – 5.65") but don't know if that would be too tall or not. Should I consider the shortest Accushot (3.75 – 4.65”)? Does anyone have any input or experience with my particular setup? What length Accushot do you think would fit/work best for me?

Accushot has a webpage devoted to this question:

How to determine best size Accu-Shot Precision Monopod

One thing to consider is the angle (if any) at which you shoot most often. Many ranges have a slight down angle to the targets, some are relatively level, some go uphill. There is a limit to the total adjustment range on a monopod, so you want to take into consideration whether you're mostly shooting level, uphill, or downhill. To some extent, you can get a little more adjustment range by coordinating your bipod height along with the monopod. If you shoot at a variety of angles, just measure how high the bottom of the buttstock is above a level surface when your rifle is in the bipod with the barrel relatively level. The Monopod where this measurement is closest to the center of travel will give you the most adjustment. The pics below are of a Sig556DMR (AR15-type rifle) with a Harris 6-9 bipod, Magpul PRS stock, and the BT12-QK Monopod. It also shows a rubber cane tip you can use to increase the surface area of the Monopod leg if you're shooting off soft ground. Hope that helps.

It really all comes down to a matter of: a) the bipod you'll be running (and more importantly than the type of bipod...the height you'll be running it at); b) the conditions/settings you'll be shooting the rifle (including but not limited to your shooting positions and the various angles you'll be running the rifle at); and c) personal preferences, including how you will use the monopod.

I generally prefer the shorter, BT12-QK with a Tac cap for most shooting I do, including from the bench and prone, running an Atlas (and previously...Harris BRM-S) bipod on ARs I own that are equipped with a PRS.

Kasey has a very good "sizing how-to" on the B&T website. If you've not read through it, it might give you a better idea of which model will work best for you and your particular application. See here: How to determine best size Accu-Shot Precision Monopod

Good luck!

ETA: Ooops! Looks likegstaylorgbeat me to the punch while I was slowly typing. He gave you some good advice though!! ;)

I am running Accu-shot's tallest monopod on my POF P-308 with a PRS stock on it. I initially bought the shorty but because of the bipod I am using (GG&G Extreme Heavy duty) it would not allow me to get close to leveling the rifle. So as others have said it depends on the bipod you are using. I wanted the monopod to allow me to level the rifle with some range up and down. In my case only the tallest Accu-shot worked for me. Since the Harris 6-9 bipod is much shorter I would imagine the medium height would work for you. But I would check how much height you need for the monopod to adjust to for your rifle /stock combination.

Just wondering what the OP decided?

For those of you that have one, do you run it angled or straight up and down most the time? I have a similar need and was thinking the longer one would be good so I could have it angled in my hand most the time and then if I need the full height it could be at a 90* to the stock and adjusted out.

Thanks for all the feedback! I ended up ordering the mid length model because I preferred the added length of it should I decide to adjust it such as in the video above. My hands are pretty large and I figured I'd have a longer base to hold onto for stabilization. My bipod is adjustable so worse case I just have to adjust each leg up or down to get the elevation of my barrel correct depending on whether I'm shooting flat, downhill or uphill. I can't wait to try this thing out.

Good choice when using the 6-9" Harris bipod.
