Which Sig AR is better?

Re: Which Sig AR is better?

I've honestly been leaning towards the 516 because of the flat top and I've never had a piston drive AR but thats is whats holding me back i don't know much about piston drive ar

Re: Which Sig AR is better?

I have had the 516 for about a year now and probably put about 4000 rounds through it. Never had a stoppage. It is very forgiving on ammunition and allows me to buy the cheapest I can find ammunition locally. As for piston drive? does it matter. Guess there have been long debates on this. I grew up shooting a piston rifle so for me being able to use the AR platform which is piston is the best of both worlds. I bought mine to be a regular shooter and opted for the 516 with rails considering I probably would have bought them anyway.

Re: Which Sig AR is better?

just purchased a 556 patrol, maybe should of gotten the 516. I like the rail system better. Wont have it til the weekend. I have read fit and finish is not the best. But most people wont get rid of them because they shoot so reliably. I will let you know. Good luck on your choice, that is a good looking weapon.

Re: Which Sig AR is better?

I don't mean to throw a wrench in your plans if you are only sold on buying Sig... if you are into it more for the piston driven quality you may want to take a look at Rock River's PDS..
upper rail is completely monolithic-
I don't have any issues with Sig, just something to think about.

If you like the idea of maintaining a traditional AR, Stag's model is pretty affordable and will still be able to swap somet parts from your other AR platforms.

As far as I'm concerned, the quality of much of RR's work is a great value for what you're spending.

Sorry to post off topic, just thought I would throw in a different idea in the event you haven't already considered it...

Good luck to you
