Which one would you chose? Both are used but in the same great condition with a box and manual. The T5xi has the upgraded turrets. They are each $1000.00. All things being equal which would you choose. Which do you consider to be the better scope. In this scenario no other scopes are being considered. Please answer only if you own, have used, or played with both. If you could comment on optics, tracking, functionality of parallax, illumination, eye box forgiveness, etc...

All things being equal is only in the price. Owned the 4-16 and have looked many times through the T5xi. The only thing in my opinion the T series have over the older 16X is its compactness. The 16X has better glass, is bomb proof and doesn't have a history of fucked up tracking minus the statistical few failures that all companies have. Illumination is perfect and the eye box is damn near Hensoldt levels, not quite there but close. My vote is for the Military 4-16 but that's just my opinion.

4-16 Military. I've gone through a few of the T series Steiners and always ended up trading/selling them off. Decent scopes but like stated above, the M series have a much better history of reliability and less fuck-ups.

I like the reticle. It's a bit large at extended distances, but it's never caused me to miss or not see a target. If it were just a straight mil-hash reticle, like the Vortex EBR-1 mrad, it would be perfect.

I truly believe Steiner didn't give that scope a chance to succeed. I also believe that if they kept that design, with its feature set, a selection of reticles, and made it a 4-20 or 5-25, it would be highly successful.

You will not find a better scope for 1k than the 4-16 Steiner. I moved away from mine because of the weight. They really are massive. I have a TX5i now and it has been good also, after the upgrade anyway. I like something as simple as the G2B over the SCR for some things. For 1k each, i would buy them both and sell the one I didn't want for a profit.

hmmm good question... I vote the T5 3-15. Have used both in PRS competitions in the past. I believe the glass is close enough to be a push, but I choose the T5 due to the compactness as it doubles as a hunting scope on my magnum. I would prob trust the Mil version a little more on tracking and use as a hammer but the T5 has shown to track just fine with new knobs. I also prefer the SCR over the G2B.

Good luck I think both will serve you fine. Choose off size and rect to fit your needs imho.

ets - what corndog said, buy both sell one you no likey.
