Actually in regards to public education I was not referring to college.
I went to a major 4 year institution. Like many it was a hodgepodge of personal pay, scholarships, grants loans both subsidized and Unsubsidized.
I referencing K-12 and what should include pre-k and alternative tech based training.
It is one of the single greatest things this country ever did and our allowing of it to degrade has largely led to many issues of today.
I am far from a northern liberal communist but and equally as far from a blind follow the leader right wing lemming.
I fully support the 2A. I believe without question the 2A was out in place to safeguard the populous from an over reach authoritative government who allowed their personal beliefs and ideologies of governance or religion to rule the country.
too be honest it was our continued fighting overseas since the 90’s that really solidified my position on that because for years I questioned the modern day relevance of a local militia with hand held firearms defending itself against a fully armed nation state. Watching just how hard this country has had to fight against those overseas who by comparison have nothing helped prove the theory to me that it was still relevant.
now as far as social issues. Love who you want! I feel the LBGTQ movement made a mistake pushing for the term marriage. “Marriage” is a religious institution and each religion has its right to set its standards in ideology. I do feel however they should of continued to push for universal acceptance of civil unions. Religion aside marriage is a business contract. Ask the 55% of American who have been divorced atleast once and tell me it wasn’t ultimately the dissolution of a business partnership in the eyes of the state and courts. If gay Americans want to join the other 55% in getting it wrong more power to them.
And yes federal funding has led to the vast majority of growth in this country.

when a pharmaceutical company develops a new drug it often comes on the back of federal funding and support And or through the use of state owned research institutions.

it has been and always will be a public private partnership. However I have always been fascinated with the company that makes its payroll off federal or state spending but than lobbies to cut corporate tax or tax to the wealthiest tier of Americans.
If you have some good examples of significant growth in this country that did not occur because of a public private partnership please give them. I like studying history and am always excited to learn something new.

I utilize zero direct government handouts. No welfare no unemployment no Medicare or Medicaid. I have a special needs son and one other daughter. I have a household income of $140k a year. My property taxes have doubled in the 5 years I’ve been living here in texas. I utilize public schools and am thankful that I found one especially here in texas that provides the support I receive for my special needs son.
I don’t get special tax breaks and I file ez form through turbo tax. And yet I don’t bitch a moment about my taxes. I have good services in the area. A very good school district. My town is safe and it is growing.
now I do gripe about the piss poor water safety and the fact that it has failed quality control to the point that for the safety of my family I dealt the need to put in a water purification system into my home that cost me thousands out of pocket.
I bitch that the fear and racism in this area has caused an active effort to fight the light rail commuter line from expanding as it had planned leaving it 20 miles shy of my city leaving me with an awful 45 mi one way commute through shitty traffic instead of chilling on a train where I could get two hours of work done each day reducing my office presence down by 25% freeing up valuable time with my family. All because they fear that this will allow the unwashed masses from south dallas to venture north and infect our city. Because that’s what thieves do they take an hour and a half long train ride to then walk miles to burglarize a home and then walk miles back with their loot and then ride on the train system that has its own police force with their stolen booty.

The reason businesses are moving here is because local politicians have chosen to suspend the government over site that the other states have making it more economically attractive for companies to move here. So they do. They get here and decide they need labor. But they aren’t thrilled with the labor that’s here so they bring it with them.
well if you feel that there is an invasion on your land it’s happening because of the conservative politicians you put in office suspending or removing the EPA red tape and taxes which would otherwise have kept these companies out

Raise awareness, and get the community involved. With the recent shitshow of dumbfucks holding guns to people's heads in gas stations across my city, armed robbery of lawn care workers, and motherfuckers stalking young women home from their evening workouts to abduct and rape them, it's a no-brainer to a lot of people that they need to get armed and quick.

Absolutely it can. Showing maps in red or blue counties is irrelevant. What you need to look at is the population density of those counties because I never thought Colorado would turn blue, but it has. Californians sought refuge here because they turned their own state into a shithole by voting more and more liberal. Then they got sick of what their voting had wrought, and moved here. But instead of learning from their stupidity, they doubled down on their liberalism and turned the entire Denver metro area into a second San Francisco, complete with human shit on the streets. Liberals are a virus and will spread as such.
And I'll say this: there's a very insidious force behind these "all guns are evil and must be taken from the people" movements. They are indoctrinating our children in schools and universities to the point our votes will be insignificant. All the powers that be have to do is sit back and wait. And once the guns are gone, what do you think their plans are? It certainly isn't to let peace and prosperity reign

So instead of preaching to the choir on this site, I will ask an open question. Having newly become (as of July) a resident of Belton, Bell Co. TX. can anyone point me to a group or persons that will actively support conservative values/candidates? I was thinking of joining or at least attending a local Rotatory club meeting. I want to fight to keep Texas red.

Even if Texas goes blue, don’t be so sure the “blue agenda” will be implemented. The last thing the dems actually wanted was for gay marriage to be legal. It was such a good wardrum until SCOTUS pulled the rug out from under them, and then the gay men took their money and went home. The fired up red backlash, plus blue post coital lethargy, put Trump in the whitehouse. You think dems really want guns to be outlawed and confiscated? You think repubs really want abortion banned? I think both standing parties in the US want US disarmed so that their owners/operators can continue to fleece America of it's abundant wealth and assimilate our 401K's, Life Savings, investments, homes, college funds and everything. IMO the politically correct movement has done exactly what it was intended to do. My whole life until about 8 years ago illegals were referred to as "wetbacks or illegals" by EVERYONE including Hispanics. The changing of the terminology in the mainstream to "undocumented immigrant or worker" is to condition the yankees and suburban folks (women mostly). So now it makes it sound like: "oh ok no big deal they are JUST here illegally. They don't have their papers yet, but not harming anyone." Therefore conditioning the public to empathize with these poor helpless innocent lambs just searching for a better way of life........
Now they are pushing refugee terminology as to sway the public into thinking, not only should they be here but we need to give them things because don't you understand "refugees" have always fled because of persecution and now need our help.
