Short Action Customs I believe...

Re: Who to build me a new rifle

yep, i have never heard a single review other then stellar for every shop i mentioned. i would just call and see who has the shorter lead time. i have 2 guys having guns built by GAP right now and a guy sending one to SAC. I wouldn't hesitate to have a single one of them work on a gun for me.

Man id love to see the Google results for "sac" LOL....

Re: Who to build me a new rifle

OK so the quality of work and customer service is great for the shops listed, lead time was mentioned, possibly one would want to do business with a close shop, other than that is there any significant difference in pricing (obviously this is difficult because you are not comparing identical items)

Re: Who to build me a new rifle

Save yourself some time and get either a TRG 22 or AI. I have both a TRG 22, AI AE MKII and a custom 700 in an A-5 with a Rock Creek 22" barrel. The TRG and AI are just as accurate as the custom and much more reliable. I have had the custom fail in northern Canadian conditions where the TRG and AI worked flawlessly without any issues. So it depends what the rifle's intended use will be as well. Just my opinion.

(Shortrange BR, 1K, and X-Course rifles.
Many record-setting BR rifles.

Here is a link to a nice rifle he built. Hes building me a 300winmag at the moment, and has built many guns for my buddies. I've been to daves place a few times, and he is a stand up guy with some serious skills.

its a good idea ....that you consider supporting those that support this website and all the various competitions that many here compete at.......

its really a good idea.

Re: Who to build me a new rifle

Call APA. They make absolute lasers, and they'll wring every bit of accuracy from the components. I was really impressed with their commitment to quality.

I had Woody build an FN SPR for me. Outstanding smith and perfect customer service. The rifle shoots great and he listened intently when we discussed the build. One of the best experiences I've ever had with a smith.

I just sent my downpayment to Charley Robertson at "Score High Gunsmithing."

He's in NM, and got to talking to him on the phone. I liked the look of his muzzle brake, and said screw it, I'll just get the whole rifle from him!

NO previous rifles from him, so I'm just really giving you another place to look.

Best of luck!

Re: Who to build me a new rifle

I have to say GAP first, because I have first hand experience wining and shooting a rifle that they put on a prize table at ASC fall 2010 match. Thats a hell of a thing to do, supporting matches with that kind of hardware.

Second, I would say Pierce engineering, great prices, great rifles. My shooting partner, several of friends and I own them, and they are all balls on accurate. All in-house custom made actions, held to the most exacting tolerances in the industry.

Wronscoe here on the hide is also a top contender.

Any will build you a tits rifle.
