I shot steel this morning at LRGC and everything is right with the world . Shaved some time off and showed some great improvement . I'm not setting any records just improving my skill and besting myself . any body else shootin .

Probably have a quick rimfire session tomorrow shooting steel spinners. I should remind myself to bring a paper target to post in Rthur's rimfire challenge thread.
I've had several meetings with these in the local bean fields.
They can cut a circle in no time.

Nothing formal, but I took advantage of the cool overcast to rid the pond of a few unwanted turtles and a legless devil.
Also played with the new SR22 and showed the Mrs. how to use it. Love that little pistol!

Had mom's memorial yesterday, and it's been raining and snowing all week. Far too muddy on the range. Hopefully the weather will improve enough to shoot the local monthly match next weekend.
I shot 6.5CM 147 ELDM factory loads at 1000 and was killing it. Ran out of the former lot number and moved to a new one, while going out to 1200 and 1300. Couldn't hit $*&#. Had to go back to 670 and worked my way back up to 1000. The observed drops indicate that the MV of this lot number is much less than the former one. Did not bring the chrono to verify.
In there with ya all in spirit, believe that! Had perfect weather to do it. Wasn't even gonna comment cuz it's killing me not to enjoy my passion of trigger time. My goal of 1,800 yds this year being on hold is just absolutely fucked.

Don't shoot that much factory ammo but I'm also guilty of not packing my pos chrono or a tall target when things go awry to try and figure out where the little bastards are going from time to time at LR when I'm by myself and can't pick up splash at my favorite pit. It's the one in the "What's Your View" thread. It 's where I'm planning on popping my mile cherry.

That little ruger is a fun pistol. I got one for my daughter a few years ago. I've probably put as much ammo through it as she has.
Spent most of Sunday afternoon on the backyard range. 22LR time for three kids age 7-10. 380 ACP testing for the wives - they like the new steel. Help buddy's wife break in the AR he built her - milsurp type ammo is no better than a shotgun but bugholes with handloads from my gun. A group each with my precision AR and 20 Practical, just because they were there. And fourteen rounds with the 338 Edge I just built for load development.
JGlascow - I know how you feel. My dad's service was three weeks ago today, and we're trying to adjust to him being gone. Then yesterday, I went to visit my mom's sister in the hospital and they had her in the room next door to where my dad spent his last week. It's a long walk through the hospital to get back to those rooms, and as I was making it yesterday I had a very eery feeling like I was going to visit him again.
1JO4 - I almost always shoot alone, and in a lush, green Alabama hayfield there is never a splash to give you a clue which way you're off. It can be frustrating for sure.

In between rebuilding my field cultivator and other hobby farming tasks, I drove 4hrs round trip to shoot for 20min in an outdoor GSSF match. Usually takes a lot longer but I reckon that's the benefit to almost missing it and showing up as they are getting ready for the teardown. Shot my best score ever with my unlimited gun, not so much with my iron sighted entry.
Played around a little with the 9mm AR that I built week before last, that thing is as awesome as can be for a gun with no purpose other than slinging copper covered lead downrange. Shocked myself with how well I was able to hit 10" steel with it at 185yds with a 25yd zero and about 6" of holdover with the Trijicon mro.
Good times, now if I could just get my deer/dove food planted I'd be good to go.

Many of us have been to this unfortunate place in life and I'm 100% confident that there is nothing but well intenfed wishes and thoughts for you and yours. It's a respect and family thing. And we all know family comes first. I'm certain it's appreciated you feel comfortable enough to share and we're more than comfortable to support you. Best to you.

I forgot to add, I did shoot one group at 100 with this ammo. It occurred to me that I switched from the 140s to the 147s a few weeks ago without ever really shooting a purposeful group beyond just checking the zero. So, I took a minute yesterday to see what this rifle could do with them. I only fired the one group, so I don't know how consistent it would be, but it's a factory load and I can't change anything about it anyway, so one group was enough to answer any questions about the load/rifle combination I might have had.
Oh, it does quite well. I've shot it at 1000 a lot. I've also shot it at 1200 and 1300 a couple of times. The problem yesterday was the change to a new lot number. I started out with about 5 or so rounds left from the last box in that case/lot number. I shot them at 1000 and they were dead-on. Then I opened the new case (different lot number), and shot the 100 yard group pictured above, then went to 1200 and couldn't hit crap. So I thought something was weird, so I went back to 1000 where I was dead-on, and still couldn't hit crap. I finally had to resort to the 670 yard target, which showed that I was maybe 0.2 mils low vs. where it should have been. Then I went to 900 and was even more off the calculated elevation. Back to 1000, I was a good 0.4 mils low - enough to miss the target altogether until I figured out where to compensate. Part of it is in the Zero, as you can see in the pic above, it has moved about 0.1 mils low vs. the previous lot number.

I smell what you're stepping in. To me, a new lot, whether factory or hand load just as well be like starting over. Hard zero, then good hits on intermediate (600-800 yard) targets for truing, then on out with good numbers. Just my opinion, I'm wrong a lot.

Yep, I went through the same thing with my 338 Norma last fall. I buy 300gr SMKs in the 500 ct. boxes. My first and second boxes were no change, but when I started in on that third box last fall, things went to heck in a hurry and I spent forever chasing the load again. Also, Retumbo doesn't seem to be real consistent from lot to lot either. I only buy 8 pounders, but they don't last long with that gun!
The Labradar will be along for the ride next trip and that should fix the current issue. I've probably got enough info from drops now to calculate the new MV without it, but I have it so I might as well use it.
1K Group - they're not all as great as that one for sure, but in good conditions they have been pretty darned satisfying. I took that pic because it was from a cold bore, and it's awesome when your first three shots of the day do that.
