Why all the defeatist attitude among gun owners?

I don't see the coming gun regulations to be a bad thing. In fact, I see them as a chance for gun manufacturers to truly begin innovating again, instead of making derivative ARs over and over again. Can you imagine the variability we'll see in design when we have to get around threaded barrels, telescoping stocks, handguards, pistol grips, flash hiders, DBM restrictions, and the color black? 
Not to mention the legal hooplah we are about to witness for Grandfathered items and unconstitutional acts to confiscate them. It'll be like the period when the 18th Amendment was added eventually followed by the 21st amendment. There may be some municipalities that try to enforce these bans hardcore but I suspect when many home owners are acquitted of murder charges of SWATters, enforcement will become nil.

Some folks work the graveyard shift. Some motels have the breakfast bar open until 8:00 AM - some until 9:00 AM. Exactly when is "breakfast"? Does "brunch" qualify as a "breakfast", if you don't eat "dinner" (or is it "lunch")?

The intent of 2A is not in question. That is not what my post was about at all. I agree that the intent is to protect our rights against ALL enemies foreign and domestic.
The point I was making is that the courts, including SCOTUS, have not heard the relevance and applicability of 2A at the individual level.

My experience with talking to leftist is that they don't want to listen. In this area I have two friends that are moderate liberals that now (now as in the last 3 years) own plenty of guns and shoot regularly, all due to me introducing them to the sport and teaching them anything they wanted to know as unbiased as I could. I am still not sure one of them would vote the right way for the next president, but he will think about it a lot more now.

I have no clue how the present Government defines a militia but it is not the same construct as militias during the Revolutionary war. There wasn’t a formal standing Army. Common people banded together to protect themselves against the tyranny of the Crown.

I know this will probably sound strange, but I am really just trying to understand what happened to these leftists in their lives that brought them to such an extremist view. My opinion on how to combat would be ditch the school system as we know it. No busses no school campus no faculty all at home via computer they're already familiar with just computer courses that are approved no politics Just plain learning programming if you can get a college degree online k through 12 should not be difficult. All the money saved should be able to issue each student with a laptop. Safer for the students not having to get to school especially thru tough neighborhoods (not being exposed to the criminal element) better for the environment should please the left. Should be less taxes? As far as sports goes that is what used to be called city leagues well before I was born on the individuals/parents dime.
