Rifle Scopes Why are there no Leupold guys in the PRS world?

It's only something that I saw mentioned on the internet. I dont know what those numbers mean either. I think the internet might be a little delusional.
Also what Specialized remastered edition? The only 4, 5, and 6 versions are the despecialized edition.

I would echo some of the comments from the start of the thread. Coming from time when the market options were really only Tasco or Leupold in this country, there is some strong bias against the Leupold product that started with the cost and continued with long term mechanical performance. When Nightforce came on the scene, we suddenly had a credible third option that valued innovation.
Remember too that the BR guys tested Leupold beyond the extreme and ended up with two possible ways forward; either totally freeze the erector and windage tubes in the option centre and adjust via an external mechanical fitting or own three Leupolds - one for the gun, one as a spare, and one on rotation in the factory. That public perception causes generational damage.

I think everyone wants them to do well. They just keep missing the mark (bad pun) in the tactical scope arena. The fact that mil/mil Mark 4s were 10+ years late and still wrong when they shows up says it all.
Anything else need to be said? It's an overpriced piece of shit outclassed by lpv's half it's price. Poor reliability and quirky features at premium euro pricing. Any jap lpv is an improvement over it hence why you don't see them used by anyone. The mk8 is in another league but is dated and rendered obsolete by night forces current offerings.
Top shooters will win with any gear( as long as it actually works). You think Bushnell is superior to TT, s&b and khales?
If Vortex never sponsered anyone, they would still field as many top 100 placers as they do. Leupold could have given free scopes to the same top 100 and unless they were getting paid to use them, most would sell them and go right back to something that actually works.

I don't believe that for one second. Without all those sponsorships not nearly as many people would have jumped on the bandwagon. The advertisement has worked.
I'm not saying it is a bad product or that there is anything wrong with it. But to pretend that their marketing campaign didn't contribute to their popularity is disingenuous.

Hey I used to have plenty of those when i was fishing but dropped them and used my contacts to get what I needed. Ended up being a win win for those companies and myself.
I think the Mk 5's are a different breed than the past lines. Leupold is making the effort, and it just takes time to overcome past issues.
I remember when everyone was saying Tasco's were all shit. But the SWFA SS (formerly Tasco) still has a good rep, even today.

Competitive and informed shooters are not idiots. Marketing is for mouth breathing morons who need someone to force feed them information. The best products and values will end up in the hands of shooters either way.

What is your point besides wanting to argue? The most common scope on the PRS is vortex NOT the ones you mentioned. If vortex wasn't the BASSCAT of boats 8 years ago handing out "sponsorships" left and right perhaps other people would have a chance. End of the day Vortex isnt the top choice because its the best scope. Just like Leupold isnt used but not because its the WORST scope.

You have no evidence if the pros refused Leupold, you just spouted it off like every pro in the top 100 has turned Leupold down. You are a Vortex fanboy. Your statement about vortex being the top choice is a complete guess and generalization backed up with ZERO facts. End of the day if everyone did pick Vortex, it wouldnt be that its the best scope in all 100s eyes, the pricing and availability of cheap Vortex would play into that.
So try again, please post your facts as to why the top 100 would pick Vortex given the chance to have any scope on the market.
The respected names would win with anything... according to most. Vortex used the respected names because they knew people would buy what the pros used. ITs good enough for X its good enough for me. You don't need a Sb to compete in PRS.

I have shot with a number of pros and I dont care what they used for the comp they didnt have a Vortex on their rifle in the class i took. So you are right mouth breathing morons will buy a scope and scream its praises because they saw a pro use it.......

What are u clowns smoking? The mk6 has been a verified failure of epic proportions. Numerous units adopted it early only to trash it in favor of the razor which has been a mainstay in both black and white sof for years. The mk8 is the only non POS they have made in over 20 years and it's priced like it's made out of gold and diamonds. No one runs a mk6 and those that did trashed them years ago. Poor tracking, issues with the turrets and shit illuminiation doomed it from day one. Today? It's still as irrevevent as it was 5 years ago. It's unfortunate how missinformed and ignorant some of you are.

The vortex pst has caused more optics downtime in the history of riflescopes. One giant pile of shit. Their reputation as a warranty specialist was generated single handedly based off that POS. vortex's entry into the premium scope market in 2010 or 2011 with the gen 1 razor hd gave every optics mfr on the planet the green light to up the price of their premium optics by 500, because it was marketed as a 2k scope with a 1500 value at best.
Then when they decided to unveil the gen2, they managed to dump the remaining gen 1's for 1300, devaluing every gen 1 sold by 700 bucks. That's a company I would want to brag up.

Running a large retail business I deal with enough stupid in a day to last most people a year, I get on here while in my office as an escape, I don't need more stupidity here too.

Based on my very positive experience with my two Mark 5's I had been eyeballing a VX5HD for a hunting rifle based on the features and the feedback the line has gotten thus far. Yesterday I called Euro Optic and ordered a 3-15x44 with the Impact 29 reticle and it showed up about 2hr ago.
I don't have a lot of hunting type optics to compare it to so I compared it to two that I have that I feel are comparable based on price and features. One is a Swarovski Z3 4-12x50 w/ballistic turret and the other is a Z5 3.5-18x44 w/ballistic turret. The Leupold has a better eyebox than both of them and the glass is clean and crisp edge to edge on all 3. Resolution and brightness on the Z5 and VX5HD are the same to my eyes and just a little ahead of the Z3. The elevation turret on the Leupold is simply better than the Swaro. It's not quite as crisp as Mark 5's but it feels better than both of the Swaro's, is easier to read, and the zero lock feature is awesome.
The magnification and parallax on the VX5 is smooth and isn't too tight or loose. The impact 29 reticle also appears very nice and just the right line thickness, but I'll hold judgement on it until I have a chance to run it.
I have only two complaints, and given their target audience I'm probably the odd man out. I wish it was available FFP and also offered in a MRAD configuration with .1mil turrets and the CCH reticle. Not a huge complaint since the 15x that the reticle is calibrated at isn't an unreasonably high magnification for the distances that most shooters will need to be using the reticle holds, and will still allow enough field of view at those distances and mirage shouldn't be too much of an issue at 15x either. The turrets and reticle while not being mil are still excellent and are at least matched, I just prefer to keep all of my scopes the same.
I've got a set of Seekins rings showing up tomorrow and I'll be able to get it mounted and will most likely throw it on my humbler to run a box test and then do some shooting with it this weekend.

The difference is, vortex has 10 year history of making a good product (razor). Leupold has a 30 year history of making a 30 year old product and 9 out of 10 attempts at modernization failing. For what it's worth, I consider any non razor line vortex optics to be garbage as well.

I have the same model VX5hd with the Impact 29 and I too find it an awesome scope considering the price point.
I love the eyebox and the glass, I have dialed it out to 200yard on my 22lr and all ranges in between and it tracks perfectly.
Unfortunately I don't think they will ever offer an FFP version with MRAD, there is a real shortage of FFP hunting scopes on the market.
I really like the Impact 29 reticle and wish that Leupold made a MRAD equivalent to go in the Mark 5hd. Whilst the CCH looks like a nice reticle for a Horus style I'm surprised that there are 3 grid reticle options which are all quite similar, yet didn't offer a Christmas tree style like the Impact 29 which has proven to be very popular in multiple of Leupolds other scopes. Not to mention extremey popular in the likes of Kahles and Vortex scopes.
