Re: Why I will never buy another kimber
My Kimber 1911 had a plastic mainspring housing. It broke when I dropped the gun. Kimber was an ass about replacing it with metal. They wanted to charge full price and make me pay shipping to punish me for not taking another free plastic housing instead. The guy was such an ass on the phone I will never buy another Kimber.
My Kimber cost breakdown:
$800 Series II TLE
$120 (Reliability Job) Crappy extractor, it failed to extract every third round after I bought it brand new.
$20 Metal mainspring housing replacing crap part.
$200 Robar refinsh after the crappy Kimber bluing rusted the slide shut!
$120 New Trijicon sights and fitting because the crappy Kimber night sights worked so loose they slid around in the dovetail, up to a half inch in one shot!
Kimbers are so expensive after your initial investment you are better off starting with a quality Springfield, Les Baer, Wilson, Nighthawk or other decent custom shop 1911.
