Wrong. You can load mag-length 75gr (and 77gr) projectiles for the .223/5.56. Get a barrel with at least a 1:8 twist or faster and bang away. </div></div>
This is true,except for the 75gr Amax...the bullet design won't allow very much,if any, neck tension when seated to mag length in a 223/5.56mm AR15. </div></div>
Yep, the ogive side of the baring surface of the bullet is below the end of the neck at 2.230".
The Hornady 75gr HPBT is designed for mag feeding out of a AR.
221FB is a novel idea out of a AR but the loss of velocity at mag length with heavy bullets won't be worth the trade off.
