BLUF: The lock bar mechanism on different G22 and G24 mounts does not seem to be consistent. Which way is yours?

Detail: Myself and a coworker purchased two mounts about a year ago. I purchased a G22 and my friend purchased a G24. Both were purchased new from the same reputable, registered wilcox dealer (The dealer is not in question here). Both of the received mounts WHEN WORN lock into the shroud being pushed from the left to the right.

I recently purchased a second new G22 from the same dealer. However, this one, WHEN WORN locks from the right to the left (opposite).

I called the dealer and wilcox on the issue. The dealer checked a few and said all of the new ones lock from right to left (like the newer one). Wilcox said they have always produced them this way. I'd normally not bother looking further into it, except we have at least two different model mounts, purchased new, from one of wilcox's largest dealers, which are different. I/we do not suspect that these are counterfeit mounts.

Also, to me it seems that that locking from right to left means that the raise button (cylinder) is right next to the unlock button and both are the same motion to activate (push to right). This seems like it is asking for someone to jettison the entire mount inadvertently when trying to raise the unit (either by hitting both buttons, or missing the cylinder). I personally prefer the 'improper' G22 and G24 where it would be much harder to accidentally unlock it from the shroud - the only control that is near the unlock button that way is the tilt knob which is a totally different motion.

How does yours work? What are your thoughts?

I had a similar experience. I have a G24 that I purchased new from a reputable dealer several years ago. I got a 2nd newer one in a private trade which I have since sold.

The older one locks left to right which common sense says is correct for the same reason to not accidentally release the mount. The newer one was reversed right to left. I thought it might’ve been a fake so asked several people and all said theirs are left to right. I took the plates off both to compare and the machining looked identical so it wasn’t a fake. I didn’t contact Wilcox but I have a GSGM and it locks left to right like the older G24.
Hopefully some G24 users chime in cause I wonder how common this is.

Thanks for the reply. I've been looking online and pictures and videos are kind of mixed with locking direction as well. A bit disappointed that WILCOX themselves didn't realize/know/admit that things have changed. All they said was send back all three mounts and they will take a look at them... They didn't even want pictures or anything else. Guess I'm too small for them Either that or we stumbled on an oops in production.

To clarify earlier post: Wilcox stated they have always been produced to lock right to left (opposite of common sense).

Yeah, don’t know about that right to left thing since both my Wilcox mounts are opposite and others I asked said their’s are left to right. Maybe it was a new tech or what not on the phone? Maybe a stocking dealer who reads this can take a look or knows firsthand.

I have 2 new G22's that when the helmet is on are in the locked position right lever in, and to unlock you push in the more exposed left lever to the right. I also have a couple older models of the G22 and an older G24 that's a break away mod with the exact opposite locking positions.
