Im looking for a relatively cheap 12ga. Ran across this while browsing. Want to spend about 500 but ok with spending maybe 300 or so on aftermarket upgrades (870 is the logical choice I suppose) if it makes sense. FDE memes aside, anyone actually shoot/handle one of these?

Interesting. A mag extension would be a must as 4+1 is pretty weak for a "tactical" shotgun. I would also be a bit concerned about the LOP without getting my hands on one since it appears to be a fixed stock. I don't have any experience with Winchester's SXP line but I do love the SX4 semi for duck hunting. It has worked great for me for a $700 semiauto which is cheap compared to all my buddies $1200+ rigs. I'm not sure what aftermarket upgrades you want. You will have no trouble finding anything you need and an unlimited amount of things you don't need for the 870 which is what I have by the bed. A mag extension for the SXP should be easy to find around $60-70 and is a necessity IMO. I would think you could find whatever else you needed for the SXP. It already has the rail for an optic if you so choose, and you can find a light mount easily as well. If you aren't in a big hurry you should be able to pick it up for much less than Cabelas has it listed. GrabaGun is out of stock but sells it for $440, $100 off the Cabelas price. A quick google search came up with several under the $400 mark but that must be pre-pandemic stock and pricing as i haven't found it in stock anywhere online yet.

Thank you for the insights, esp re: LOP. Win makes a comparable marine model stainless and chrome. Was sort of digging the one in the OP since aside from extended mag and possible LOP (as you noted) it looks pretty GTG.

Yeah truth be told I'm interested in it, especially if it pops back up sub $400. I signed up to get notified if it come back in stock on a couple sites.

This guy is a little annoying but has a review of the model you linked to. Otherwise haven't seen much about it.

Thanks for the link. Lop looks longer in the vid than it does in pic. Im a few inches taller than guy in vid but it looks to me like it should be good.

Yep, setting up my notifications too. :)

For high 4s low 5s seems to be a decent deal IMO. If you end up getting one before me post back with ya thoughts. :)

Cool thing about the SXP is it unlocks and cycles as you fire. Basically if you don't hold onto or loosely hold onto the forearm the shotgun will eject the spent hull on its own. Which allows you to cycle it very fast. For the price its a great value gun that is very reliable.

Not sure if you bought one yet. My buddy has one (Winchester pump 12 gauge) and it will not cycle 3 inch Federal rounds. It does cycle Winchester 3 inch but barely and has to be run hard. Looks like the ejection port opening is slightly short.

Can confirm this. Usually the hulls are over SAAMI max length. Use shells within SAAMI spec and you shouldn't have a problem.
