I'm looking for a good wind meter that is in the affordable range. Any brands that I should look into or stay away from?

What is the affordable range? Are you looking for just a wind meter or a weather meter that takes multiple readings also?

Under $50 just looking for a decent wind meter, maybe one that could tell humidity also.

In that price range check out the La Crosse Anemometer, it can usually be found in the $40-$50 range pretty easily. It reads temperature, wind chill, current/max/average windspeed. Reviews are pretty positive as well on this unit.
You could also check out the Caldwell Wind Wizard but I don't know much about this particular unit.
