Just got a Surface Pro tablet running windows 8 and have a Kestrel 4500 with blue tooth. Any recomendations on software that will work with both?

Have you checked up the marketplace? There are ballistics apps, at least for Windows Phone, that should run on the tablet but I cannot assure that for good.
