Shooters

Thanks for making this a great match!!!!! I also want to Thanks Woody, The RO's, Support staff for making this match run as smooth as possible. Without them Woody and I could not do the matches.

All of your support for this match and the feedback we have received will hopefully allow us to make the the 2013 matches even better.

The result tab on http://woodysmatch.com/ has Saturdays results to include stages and I am sure the Sunday info in depth will be on prior to tomorrow morning.

Now time for a hot shower, meal and ...........

Re: Nov 17 + 18 DESIGNATED MARKSMAN MATCH AT WOODYS

We didn't shoot good but had a great time and will be back for the next one, with a gas gun!!

Thanks Dave, Woody and all of the support side!

Re: Nov 17 + 18 DESIGNATED MARKSMAN MATCH AT WOODYS

Thanks Dave, Woody, and all support staff. I didn't get to shoot Saturday but had a great time today. I shot a good match today, just stumbled on a couple stages. It was challenging as always, the wind didn't help anything either. I'm very pleased with 11th place. Awesome group of shooters at this event, everyone is always willing to help and give advice. I learn something every time I attend. Great Job everyone!

Re: Nov 17 + 18 DESIGNATED MARKSMAN MATCH AT WOODYS

I had a great time. I want to thank Mr Woodall for letting us shoot on his place. And thank Mr Branson and ROs for making such a challenging match fun.

I shot ok. I goofed bad on the individual today by using wrong dope or forgetting to holdover on the cold bore.(DOH!) I learned a lot, how to shoot or approach obstacles. Also learned I need a few more pieces of kit (monopod and shooting stick, thanks Tom!!!!)

I can't wait till spring!

Re: Nov 17 + 18 DESIGNATED MARKSMAN MATCH AT WOODYS

Had a blast just like last time. Just wish todays winner wouldnt have sucked it up yesterday so we could of had a chance....
wink.gif

Really, all stages were challenging and the wind was a killer but we had a good time. Good job on the win today Grey.

Re: Nov 17 + 18 DESIGNATED MARKSMAN MATCH AT WOODYS

Dave and Woody, Great match as always! RO's thanks for all your help and professionalism. It was a great match and we learned a ton (especially about wind and using a dust cover on the MA-Ten). Looking forward to banging more steel this spring.

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Thanks Dave and Woody!
And to the ROs who had to put up with me... Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

These were both great matches with very challenging stages, Danny and I had a ball!

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Woody, Dave & RO's, HAD A BLAST!! Love the added number of stages and the speed that both these matches were ran. I know the thought and time that goes into these matches and it's all greatly appreciated. Woody's facilties and it's terrain really make for a challenging day of shooting. Combine that with the wind, cold, and some cable spools, and you have a bear of a LR Match. Would also like to thank Barry fo the awesome photos. Hope to be back out there in the spring when I can feel my fingers and toes.

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Thanks Dave, Woody and RO's. The match Saturday and Sunday was challenging and a lot of fun! I couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Semper Fi Dave!

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Hate we missed this one. Looks like it was a great match...

Congrats to the winners; looks like you boys SMOKED IT! Fine shooting indeed.

As always (somebodys going to ask so it might as well be me), what type guns were the winners running?

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Man we had a blast!!! Great match guys. Again, thanks a million to Woody and Dave and all the ROs for their hard work. The match ran like a well oiled machine. I met a bunch of great people this weekend and learned a few things about my shooting, and my kit that I will keep in my back pocket for the next match. Already looking forward to the next one guys.

That they did, I am curious on their kit as well.

Y'all missed a good time.

I started @ around 0830 on stage one and finished stage five around 1130.

Lots of wind that you boys could have shot in... you'd of liked it.

It was fun, nice to meet you Mr. Dennis.

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Thanks to Woody, Dave, the ROs, and everyone else that put in the effort to make this event so fantastic. It was obvious that a LOT of thought and time went into it, and we all benefited. I too look forward to the spring now more than ever.

As to the winners on Sat...I saw their gear. It was just like lots of guys were running. Gas guns and good glass. It was obvious why they crushed it when I watched them run a couple stages. They shot very well, and they communicated like a well-oiled machine. They were in a different league...and impressive to say the least.

Thanks also to the Hide community for getting me started in the tactical shooting matches. Whether it was rifles, glass, or reloading, someone has always been there to answer questions. Good times.

Hey Greg, I'm sorry we missed you at this shoot! My buddy and I really appreciated the invitation!
Maybe we'll catch you at the spring shoot if you aren't going groundhog hunting!.

Dave, we had a great time, and Mark and I are very grateful to have a fellow Hillbilly make us feel welcome.
Thanks also to Woody for allowing all of us to shoot on his range, and thanks to all of the RO's who were nice enough to take the time to explain things to a couple of guys who have very little experience in these "tactical" type shoots.

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Same here Powerstroke.

I hope to see you and Pucker at the spring match.

I guess I'll have to find a new partner now if you and Tim are going to shoot together (at least for the Woody's Match).

Any chance of me talking you out of a pair of those Green Gloves?

Who was the Marine (had hearing aids) I was talking to at the match across from stage four? He was driving an Avanlanche (I think).

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Argh, I absolutely hate that we missed this match but personal stuff kept us away.

Congrats to the winners, it looks like you beat our record time! I hope that you picked up the Southwest Ammo certificate for besting our record at this match and I hope to see you two at the spring match.

This is one of the best matches around and simply put, Dave and Woody know how to get it done.

Very much looking forward to spring guys, keep up the good work!

I wouldn't doubt that they have used one before. Great training tool!

I hate we missed it too. Duck was coming off a bear hunting trip & I was continuing the worst deer hunting year of my life. It would have been fun in the wind though. Sounded like challanging stages too. Looking with excitement for the spring match!

Jeff,
It was good talking to you & we'll definitely get together at the spring shoot. I think they may have misspelled your name because nobody could understand what the hicks from Kentucky were saying...??? Maybe Dave can get/be a translator at the next match

I might have a pair of gloves around here for ya!

Oh you'll see me in the spring as long as I'm not stuck on det somewhere! Thanks for sharing your shooting partner Tim as well...he shared lots of good info. The team event makes for a completely different animal...so I'm thrilled I got to participate in both days.

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Great match as always Dave and Damon!! The DMM match was fun and challenging as always. The new tee time approach worked very well for moving the match along. I got to shoot the Sunday sniper match and it too was challenging and fun. I certainly identified some areas I need to work on. Looking forward to the Spring '13 match.

Re: PHOTOS FROM SUNDAY NOW ONLINE fb.com/WoodysMatch

Another pair of Woody’s DMM and LR matches was held last weekend. Once again, Woody’s matches were very well attended and provided safe, fun, and challenging shooting for all. I had a great time and it was good to see both old and new shooters come out for these events. As I have said before, anyone who has not yet shot a match at Woody’s should put one of his future matches on their calendar as it is time and money well spent.

No prize tables this time around, but looking forward to some good things from sponsors for the Spring 2013 matches.

My favorite stages??? Well, the Blind stage was pretty cool for the DMM match. For the LR match…it started with a bang right off the bat with a 300 yard cold bore shot, and then a 150 yard egg shot! We had a pretty good breeze for the DMM match that added an additional dimension and challenge to most of the stages. The wind died slightly for the LR match, but there was still enough blowing to keep the shooting fun. Thanks to my new partner Pucker for carrying the team for the DMM match, and thanks to my old partner Dennis for showing up to shoot and getting a chance to give me a hard time for taking his place at sucking so bad

.

I want to send out a big shout of thanks to Woody, Dave, and all the ROs and other supporters who made these matches possible. Woody and Dave are talking about splitting these matches into two completely separate matches in the future. I won’t spill any details of the discussions as they are still thinking about how best to put these new match formats together to make each match even bigger and better!!! All I can say is based upon the way they have been running their matches in the past, we can continue to look forward to top quality matches that will provide fun shooting to challenge shooters at all levels. So, I would encourage everyone to keep a close eye on announcements for future matches at Woody’s!

Re: Woody's Designated Marksman Match

Spotters/RO's, on flasher type targets does the orange have to flash for a HIT? If you have a visible hit center mass on the target with splash but the bullet doesn't have enouh energy to flash it does it still count?

I'm not one of the RO's but yes, your are correct. The flasher targets have to flash the orange for a hit to count. There are "dead" spots on some of the targets, and by that I mean areas connected to the target that either have to hold or help hold the target up but if shot there they will not flash the orange indicator. Its usually the black area (pivot point) just above or below the plate, depending on if your shooting the flasher or poppers. I've seen several people shoot it with .223's and have no issues.

too bad. </div></div>

They run this as a tactical rifle match, not really the event for a benchrest / no safety kind of rifle.

Re: Woody's Designated Marksman Match 2013 schedul

All

I will be posting the 2013 schedule this weekend on the match web site and this forum chain. We will be separating the individual precision match and the DMM.

PS- I will be sending you a email like we talked about today, thanks again for all you do!
