Wow!What a weekend.After resting Sunday and Monday I will say that this match was a honor to put on. With the help we had I was able to get around and get to see and talk to a lot of shooters. As I said at the awards banquet I would have never imagine 3 years ago that this match that started as a thought one night after not be able to sleep one would grow to the attendance that it is now. I want to personally thank all the Sponsors, RO's, extra Range help, Berry's I/T work, and Dave for covering me all the things he does. It gives me time to focus on the range and stages. My goal at each match is try to make us shoot outside of our comfort zone. That's where we maybe one day when we really need to defend our self's. As most of you that know me have heard me say we don't live in a prone world or one with a bench always by our side. I will do my best to keep you challenged each time. Thanks to all of you who have supported this match. Look forward to seeing you again next time.

The DMM last weekend was my first trip to Woody's farm. Not only did I have a great time shooting the match and meeting new folks, but that evening I was able to win a FREE muzzle threading from Precision Rifle & Tool. I had spied that particular item as I had a 24" .223 5R sitting in the safe and my first can should arrive this August/September. Dropped the rifle off Tuesday and got the call last night that it was ready for pick-up. WOW!!! I had figured a "freebe" would have gone to the end of the longest line, but Ray knocked it out fast!

I wanted to share my thanks to Woody, the ROS and all the sponsors, specifically PR&T.

We have a strong set of sponsors who were very generous to the annual prize table. With the help of the Shooters (and their feedback), RO's and Sponsors we have all turned this into one heck of a series of matches the last few years. I hope to get my chance to run the DMM COF this coming week. Thats the only downside to co-directing the match you do not get to shoot it with the shooters. That said looking forward to the Conover Tactical 22 match in a couple weeks. If you have not gone to it you are missing out Bunsen kept pressure on me for 2 years to go finally did and my only compliant is I did not go 2 years ago (I have now learned to give his council top priority). Great match for reading wind/drop/holdover using 22 lr out to 200 meters (300 yd. side match) on steel in challenging positions

If my team takes 3:10 to complete it, and yours does it in 2:30, you're 40sec ahead (assuming both teams hit all targets, no 'no-shoots', etc.) Individual match, we both have x amount of time to hit all targets. I hit all of them in 3:10, you hit em in 2:30, we're tied. That said, the shots are farther away and harder to hit in the individual match, so that's what separates the scores.

Dave and Woody (impressively) set them up in a way that makes them completely different matches.

pucker is 100% correct. This match is more a traditional precision match with smaller target size and 1st round hits bringing the highest scores. The evil timer still comes into play for prep./shoot time but no points are gained for time left on the clock. Knowing your cold bore POI is key it is a single round 100 pt shot on a MOA or less target.

• Max. Speed limit 5 mph when passing the houses when you turn on to the gravel road. Let’s keep the neighbors happy so we can continue to have access to the farm.
• Rifle Round Count min. is 40 rds (we have 2 unlimited round count stages with a PAR time so you may need some additional rounds)
• Pistol Round Count is 4 rds. You will need to bring your sidearm/holster for use on 1 stage
• 11 Stages Total with 1 unknown distance stage that will be non-shooting for you to hone your milling skills
• Range finders 100% acceptable on all but 2 stages of the match
• Gate will be closed after last squad checks in so the house 2nd story stage can be brought hot safely
• All shooters will start on stage 1 with a cold bore shot as in previous matches
• Registration is 30 minutes prior to your squad start time!

Are you on an Apple product? Neither iPad nor MacBook would show anything...so I had to fire up an old Windows POS to see it.

And yes, looks like only 3 squads. Gotta get the gate closed so we can shoot from the house. Love that stage...either a hero or a zero...'what wind?'. And then trip on the missing step on the way down...not me of course, I saw somebody do it.

My favorite part of these matches is that it is ran smooth and the pace allows me time to spend with my partner. She is only getting better and had a stellar performance had it not been for the Mil Ranging and pistol stages. They hurt her.

Had a great time yesterday on the farm. Woody and Dave put on a hell of a match that showed me I have a LOT to work on, mainly making sure I take the dope from the previous stage out of my scope before I add another MIL for the current stage. Yep, I was the one that shot about 2 Mils over the 312 on the UKD stage in squad 3. I'll be back for the Fall individual match for sure, maybe the team match as well if I can find someone to team up with.

Big Congratulations to Greg Myrick and Jeff Greg for placing 1st and 2nd. It was a toss up the whole day between them and both shot some of the best I have seen on the farm.

As Jon said the pistol shots, milling (also cold bore/dot drill ) seemed to cause some of the biggest challenge for folks. Looking forward to seeing you all at the other matches and back on the farm in Novemebr

Great match yesterday!!! Big thanks to Woody and Dave for providing the land and coordination to keep these going. Matches like these are a LOT of work…and these two guys not only keep them running, but they keep thinking of ways to improve and actually use feedback from competitors to provide a better match experience . Thanks also to all the ROs and everyone involved with providing support for the matches. This match was the smoothest run yet, and provided great stages. Anyone within driving distance should put a match at Woody’s Farm on their schedule. Looking forward to the next match in the fall.

Best individual match to date!

Great match Dave & Woody! I really think this one was perhaps the best individual match to date. Good mix of stages, emphasis on longer range precision than the previous matches, and the pistol thrown in on the house stage was excellent.

It may be a couple days before I get decent pictures posted, had to order a new copy of Adobe Lightroom today to process them.

Who's willing to share their hit data? Caliber/bullet/MV and hold would allow me to tighten up actual wind effects. Wind obviously changes, but it'll give me a rough idea. Thanks.

Honestly I think people may have been over-thinking the wind. I say that because the wind was shifting enough between the firing line and target I feel it was actually cancelling itself much of the time. Stages 8 and 9 (simulated roof top and modified prone) were a good example. We had a 90 degree wind at the firing line but at the tree line where the target was, the ribbon in the tree was indicating a 270 degree wind. The direction of fire was basically the same for the house shot. That was only about 450 yds, the house shot was about twice that distance. No telling how many changes there were.

I hit the 883 yd target on the second shot with a dead-center hold. Of course if you tried a dead-on hold for a couple of rounds and it didn't work out I'm not helping much. My data: .308, 155 SMK, 2700 fps, 8.6ish mil holdover.

Not sure what group you were shooting but I made a 2nd shot hit with 4moa hold (about 36", after missing with a 2moa hold) with a .547bc going FAST. Another guy in our squad shooting a short 308 told me his hold (on a 1st shot hit) & it converted to almost 70 inches!!! Wind was cooking in one direction when we shot... Later in the day we did see switchy winds.

It was a great shoot. Best individual match by far. Thanks to all involved.

Want to thank all the shooters who came out to the Summer Smoker. Bunsen said it right the cloud cover kept us cool for 3/4's of the match. Would like to thank the RO's Horse, Colt, Ross, Chris, Melissa, Jacob, Lawson, Steve, Lou for his scoring and Berry for all his IT support. Dave comes up with some challenging stages for me to set up for precision side of the match. As always we appreciate the feed back. I really am picky about things running smooth as possible and try to always improve on match flow. As a shooter myself its irritating to be backed up on a stage waiting for a group in front of you to shoot while your group is watching. As for the wind...............well I have had the place since 93 and still have not put my finger on it nor have mastered it. It can be wicked minute to minute. Look forward to see everyone again and those who could not make it in Nov. at the DM Match.

The Horse will add his two cents worth.......Toughest match yet! I will have to start practicing. I had not touched by bolt gun since the April match and it showed. The shooters at this match were way above par. I had a squad on Saturday that was pretty amazing 6 out the top 10. When I come away from these matches I'm analyzing the shooters and how they act, the stages and the level of their difficulty, the different equipment and how it performs. I'm amazed at how willing everyone is to talk and try to help each other. The stages are getting more difficult and folks seem to like the challenge. The equipment awes me as to how much better things have gotten over the past 10 to 12 years. Woody and Dave do a great job putting these matches on. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next match.

First round hit. Held dead on. Shooting a bolt 260 with 140 amax's at 2750. Assumed the wind was at 12/head-on.

It was a great shoot to watch... wishing I had a little more time and both Jordan and I would have been competing too! It's amazing how easy some of you made it look.. even my GF wants to get in on it now... her famous words for the day... If I do this, can I shoot the eggs too??

I apologize if my son got in anyone's way... he enjoys shooting and enjoys taking pics but has yet to understand how it can bother people when in their zones. He does manage to get a few good shots here and there (if I remind him to include more than someones face in the pic!!)
