Would be awesome to get a chance to get a return M110

I wonder when we will start developing small arms for the next war, not that the shit we're in today is going away anytime soon. I wonder how the G28 will run in Frozen North Korea?

Don't get me wrong, I would like to have an m110 and G28, but I don't see these meeting/exceeding a roll the FAL varients did 60 years ago. Though they may be well lighter and the cans have gained some momentum.

I'd love to get my hands on a surplussed M110, to go with my M24R. Then I'd just need an M107 to make my family complete!

But, I wouldn't hold my breath. The politics of allowing those into civilian hands just don't seem to make it sound all that likely. IMO, about the only chance would be if KAC were able to buy them back, or if HK took them in on trade to reduce the per-unit cost. Neither seems all that likely. KAC prob doesn't want to heavily advertise that their product barely lasted 10 years before being replaced... and I doubt HK has any interest at all in off-loading a bunch of non-HK rifles.

End of the day, the M110's will likely to go other countries, and LE through the 1033 program.

As far as the M110A1 in the Corps- it's there to serve the same purpose it serves with Army snipers; mid-range and urban sniper engagements... and as a sniper support weapon. The Corps will end up with a .300 or .338 sooner or later. Despite just going through another round of upgrades, I don't think the M40 is too much longer for this world.

Agreed. It's a pipe dream, but one can dream.

Originially, the M110A1 was not a replacement for the KAC M110, it was a compact weapon meant for close quarter defense of sniper positions and also squad DMR. It could end-up being a replacement...

The USMC was leaning toward a different CSASS than the M110A1, so this is a little surprise. Maybe they just cannot wait for the CSASS that they want to pick, and then test and field, etc., which would be 2 years out. I was kinda thinking that LaRue or Geissele might get the final USMC CSASS award in 6.5mm. Just a thought, watching the players in action.

I used the M110 in the Army and I actually liked it. It was a great weapon system that was a solid performer. There were a few guys that stuck with the bolt gun, old habits die hard. I figured if they were going to give me an upgraded weapon system to use, I might as well give it a chance.

I appreciated the accuracy coupled with the ability to put down some heavier fire if needed while running around Baghdad.

I’d pick one up if I had the opportunity and money.

There's nothing wrong with the new ones.

They WERE selling these a while back, they were trade ins --so people were essentially paying double for a used rifle just because lower says "M110" instead of "SR25".

Some are/were better taken care of others. The ones back in KAC’s possession would probably be the ones that got coded out for various reasons. Simple things like a cracked but stock could be easily fixed then sold to the collectors market. Or they might re-build them and send them back out to the force as other code-outs come through. The joys of purely contract maintenance...send it out for repairs.

But like others said, some were great shooters, some not so much. I cherry picked the ones in my BN based on how well I knew the users from each company when sniper sections shifted in the MTOE.
