Rifle Scopes WTH Midway - Do they just not know???!!!

Re: WTH Midway - Do they just not know???!!!

Dude,
have you ever heard the term "caveat emptor"? It means "let the buyer beware". It's Latin, meaning it's been around for a while. This is not a new phenomenon. If someone is poorly informed enough to buy a bad product, they need to stand up and shoulder the blame for buying crap. It's pretty simple, and Darwin had a good handle on how things really work.

Re: WTH Midway - Do they just not know???!!!

I personally like Burris I have got them all under $500. I was telling a "gun freak" at work about the burris' I have bought. He said I was wasting my money I need a countersniper. I saw it on his dpms 308. Its discusting !!! He said it the best scope he ever bought he paid over 1200 for it. This is also the guy who was not impressed with an X5 accuracy. 1.5" @ 50 yards is nothing he said. Thats what he always shoots with his 1991 a1.

So...... Either they are the best kept secret, OR people are to stupid and embarassed to admit thier mistake

Re: WTH Midway - Do they just not know???!!!

Larry Potterfield didn't force a single customer to buy one of those scopes. Every single customer has the same number of choices, the same options and the same amount of information available to make a decision.

Oh crap!! I just made a new post about a $100.00 Barska. You guys are going to just chew me up aren't you.

Re: WTH Midway - Do they just not know???!!!

I'd just love to see one of the supporters of this crap pay the premium to buy a Redfield or Unertl with a forged "USMC" marking on it. Bet the squealing would drown out a Ma Duce.

But it's just fine to mark US Government on something, advertise it as a military product, and charge a premium based on implied quality that doesn't exist.

Stop associating these products with the US Government/US military, and I wouldn't have an issue with it.

Those words carry more value than a truckload of Bertrillium-Zantitium™.

Re: WTH Midway - Do they just not know???!!!

Hell there are STUPID people everywhere!!!

I'm just looking for the one to buy the ocean front property I have here in Colorado.

People want to buy it, I would say supply and demand. If you buy into the advertising, how is it Midways fault?

Re: WTH Midway - Do they just not know???!!!

I buy from midway all the time . Once they sent me the wrong scope . after I called they sent the correct scope before I ever returned the wrong one . there shippining is high but fast usually one day for me.
yes I see the counter sniper ads on there the same as I see the barksa , bsa, and other low quality optics for sale on midway . swfa. and other sights. so what how about the car dealers who sell several different brands of autos . should they be boycotted for selling a kia sportage if they also sell gmc suburbans?
get over it buy what you want where you want.

Let's say KIA was advertising a car that get's 80MPG. In reality, the car only gets 40MPG. The dealer knows the car doesn't get 80MPG, but runs ads with the manufacturer's claim of 80MPG because high mileage cars are in demand. And demand means profit.

You're fine with this?

I've never seen a Barska or BSA with bogus US Government markings on them, or claims that they're a military contract overrun worth thousands of dollars. People know what they are buying up front.

One should never buy something based on the manufacturers word alone. I buy from Midway quite often and get exactly what I purchase. Before I click that "submit order" button I do plenty of research on customer reviews, forum gossip, and personal experience from known professionals/experts. Buying something like expensive optics should take a good amount of knowledge going in. If not, you are not the kind of person that is going to get the most out of the optics anyway, and will probably be fine with the cheapo you ended up getting, IMO.

Ever wonder how every buffet in Vegas or Reno is "voted best buffet"?

Meh, that is how I see it, but I believe heavily in personal responsibility and capitalism.

Re: WTH Midway - Do they just not know???!!!

The company who creates a product sets a "msrp" and distributes it, then the resellers set their price to make money, etc.

Larry is smart, he obviously knows that you CAN shine a turd, and sell it.

Just how stooopid do you think our troops are?</div></div>

The bulk of the enlisted soldiers I knew were NOT shooters. A few could barely grasp basic safety concepts let alone qualify without considerable "coaching".

I'm not calling anyone stupid, but a lot of our troops don't have knowledge about what hard use can do to cheap gear.

I say this as a former 88H/88M E-5. Maybe the combat arms guys have a better grasp on things, but there are way more CS/CSS than 11B's.
