Having watched 6.5Guys interview with the Commandant and the discussion of the West Texas Ord. switch lug, has anyone at this point in time used this system? Seems to be fairly 'smith friendly and the end use also seems to be very palatable. This application is why I've strongly considered an AI AT, but I'm in the minority because I have great faith in my old 700s'...
    Anxious to see/hear results. :p

    Me Again...
Noticing that when Switch Lug is installed it prevents use of "extended" scope base (picatinny) where the rail extends over the recoil lug. Has this posed a problem for anyone when shortening the rail?

I talked with WTO and Clayton..AWESOME to deal with. In the end I did not go with it because Clayton talked me out of it--and gained a lot more credibility with me. I had my rifle there and everything...

Had a 223 with a newly fitted barrel <500 rounds and a zero round 300 BLK barrel for my Rem 700. The switch lug seemed like the perfect solution...and it is in most cases. But as this was set up for the pinned lug on the rifle, if he did the conversion he would have to rechamber and rethread each barrel (my 300 BO is at 16 1/2" BTW so SBR stamp or new bbl) so he was up front and said at this point, I would be tossing out a lot of unused work I already paid for. He quoted me a very reasonable $$ to fit the switchlug and rechamber the barrels, but instead of trying to "sell me something" he was honest about what he saw. He was also very respectful in the words he used to describe some other work I had done to my rifle...class act for sure.

I liked that a lot....I will definitely look to WTO for future business.
