I missed a few shots today we'll multiple shots since I upgraded. I will have to count to make sure but there was around 8 shots missed or so off the top of my head. Before upgrade I never missed a shot same setup very disappointed

With this hiccup maybe the new athlon will replace these units......... I'm sure garmin will get a fix just sucks
I’m still curious. Was yours rifle mounted and has it always been? I think you already said it was the same this time as always before.

Reason I ask is that I think it couldn’t hurt to dig down a bit as to if there’s a pattern in some way or not. That could influence a bug correction if @Garmin is following.

I do not mount mine on the rifle. It sits roughly to left of my bipod legs and before never had any issue even shooting a little left or right not having unit perfect. Today huge difference I might of had it a little to the left than usual. Some that were missed was uphill......... never had that issue before

I have updated mine and haven’t had any issues. Even logged 65 shots with the BB gun club and didn’t miss a one in the basement of the building.
Seems like I read somewhere that updated units were doing ok with 22lr and slower, just missing centerfire shots (?).

IF YOU DON’T WANT TO UPDATE (and I can’t imagine who would right now), close out the app (completely) on your phone and it should stop the cue to update. A friend of mine accidentally hit OK when it cued him for the update because he was just hitting OK repeatedly as you normally do when you first turn it on. He didn’t see it and unknowingly OK’d the update. Yep, started missing shots after that.

Doing load development. Fired 46 rnds from two different rifles and no shots were missed.

I did have an issue where when uploaded to my iphone all was good but when I forced an update to icloud, then to my ipad, one of my sessions became corrupted and was empty on the ipad. I was editing the names of all the sessions on the ipad and this in turn caused the version on my iphone to be corrupted as well. Fortunately I had screenshotted it.

This is the first time that I have had any issues of any kind with data loss.

Mine missed 13 out of 60 shots with v3.30 a couple of weekends ago. With v3.32 last weekend it picked up all but 1 shot out of 50.

Something strange happened on the 1 shot it did not pick up. On the 3rd shot of a session the unit did not pick up the shot and closed the session. That session including the 2 previous shots also did not appear in the history and I thought they were lost. However when I synced to the app later that session and those two shots were included so in the end I only lost the data for the one shot. Never had that happen before so it seems there might still be a bug of some sort.

I will add that I would love to be able to either reopen a session or combine sessions in the app as I often take multiple rifles out and rotate through them to allow for cooling. Currently I have to combine data from multiple sessions in excel.

I wonder if Garmin actually test the unit after update, instead of just visual program update.
I’m sure that there were some quick tests, but it’s a trade-off. Do they rush the update to keep people using them and retain costumers or do they take their time and field test the update in all sorts of conditions on different rifles and ranges, which might take weeks?

I would choose the first, but then work like mad to do a better update with full testing completed before the loss of too much customer base.

Now, as a larger corporation they may not move that fast. I suppose that we shall see.

I’m sure that there were some quick tests, but it’s a trade-off.
Actually, their software test department should already have a suite of regression tests...many/most automated... to validate that point releases/patches work and don't break anything else....or at least they should if they don't have their head completely up their ass.

Show of hands: how many who have upgraded would jump at the chance if they’d just allow you to reload v3.27 (before the disastrous update)?

It would seem simpler to me to just re-release 3.27, let everyone get back on solid ground, and then do a thorough testing of the “fixed” update before releasing it.

It would be a great idea but I bet the engineers think it’s the best update in the world and believe every one else is an idiot and is messing something up. It’s never their fault.

Just back from the range and my Zero has the latest update. It was actually logging the shooter next to me during my session.

It was quite apparent as I was shooting 308 and the shooter next to me was shooting 223, the velocities were quite obvious.

It also seems to have missed one shot, which I attribute to the chrono picking up the adjoining shooter shots.

We will see what the athlon does to it....... even the labradar lx which I never hear much on. I think you will see more options and more improvements from garmin and others. Just hope they fix the this issue because before the update it was perfect.

Shot two strings Saturday with 3.32 > Rifle > 1700-5000fps; 103gr 6mm bullets avg ~2880fps. C1 captured 32 of 34 in string 1 and 21 of 22 in string 2. Device placement consistent with prior sessions enjoying 100% capture of rounds pre 3.30; all shots from static bench location. Would really like to have my original C1 back.

Our results are unfortunately consistent.

Had mine out for the second time on v3.32. Shot 6 strings totaling 80 shots yesterday and did not drop a shot. Last trip shot 90 and it got all those. Really weird the inconsistancies between users/devices. I dropped a couple on 3.30, but 3.32 has been perfect for me.

I could have missed it earlier in this thread but I had mine out last night for some test rounds and v3.32 picked up all 20 rounds and I noticed there's now a "Pause Session" option in the drop-down list before you "End Session." I didn't try this feature as I was racing the sunset but am now wondering if it's the ability to Pause, upload to you phone if you choose, but then be able to go back and add to that previous session?

Once you pause a session, you can review data, but can only un-pause back into, or end the current session. That's been my experience with the pause function.

I think that may have changed. Last night I paused a session and the menu showed the normal resume session, but also showed an option to open a new session. I decided to give it a try since I had two rifles with me. I first wrote down the data from the paused session in case it closed or did something else funky then opened a new session, shot, and closed the session. Back to the menu and it still gave me the option to resume a paused session. I did so and all the data for the other rifle was right there.

Assuming last night wasn't some sort of screwy glitch it will be a useful ability for me as I like to take more than one rifle so I can rotate through for cooling.

@Garmin

Fix the bugs.
Allow restart sessions.
Pull in environmental from phone.

Ideal scenario: Create profiles that can be opened/closed. Maybe have sub-sessions within those gun profiles if user wanted. Actually if AB quantum sync’d that would be rad. Record shots with environmentals. Have data analytics that allow you to bin velocities by temp and/or DA so you can see how your load is affected. Generate all the normal avg/sd/es data for a session or for the entire profile. Do all of this in a nicely formatted app—I know this is doable, I use Garmin Connect with my watch daily.

well, if they did then they didn't put it in the release notes which would be kind of a significant boo-boo

Results from yesterday, shooting 6.5 CM out of 28" barrel with DA Sandman-K & RecoilX brake, bolt action, all from prone.

Strings 1-5, Xero was attached to rifle.

18/20
10/10
10/10
9/10
26/30

Granted, with the mount I have, the Xero is not perfectly within the recommended distance from the barrel and from the muzzle. It is a bit too close to the barrel and a bit too far from the muzzle with the supressor on it. Although, it worked with this mount prior to the recent updates. And if it picks up 73 out of 80, why doesn't it pick up all 80? I digress...

So for the last, large string, I put the Xero on its tripod and placed it within the recommended limits of barrel and muzzle. Couldn't do any better as far as placement goes.

49/50

So still not 100%, but better than when it was mounted.

P.S. the 49 shot string was factory Hornady 147 ELDMs, 2,763 AVG with 12.4 SD & 57.6 ES. Not hateful.
