XLR Chassis Stock

Has anyone noticed if their hand guard slightly off center? My barrel seems to sit a little low and left, but not sure if it's a chassis issue, or an action not being completely true. When I say a little, I mean about 1mm low and 1mm left, not enough to bother me that much, but enough to tell that it's not completely lined up.

I actually let it set since the morning and Im not sure if just settled in or what but it sure looks pretty damn centered now. Maybe I just needed some caffeine to see correctly.

Heres the finished product. It came out very well and seems to be very very solid. Hopefully I can get some ammo together for it thia weekend.

Savage 12lrp in 6.5 cm , xlr tactical, ken farrell 20moa steel base, nightforce med-high rings.

I just joined the site and this is my first post. Ordered an XLR Evolution (in green) a couple of weeks ago and I'm chomping at the bit. One thing I'm definitely going to need is a case/bag for it. I am going to put it on a Remington 700 with a 26" barrel... can anyone tell me how long the completed rifle will be ? I did not get the folding stock option. Thanks, and I'm looking forward to comparing notes with everyone once it gets in and I can get out to the range.

Same length as your factory rig. Can even be made slightly shorter due to adjustable lop.

Picked my rifle up from Phoenix Custom Rifles today. Keith REALLY outdid himself. Pics just don't do this thing justice, but I'll try...
TAC338 action, bartlein 338 9.5 twist at 29", chambered in 338lm, APA Fat Bastard brake, LRA bipod, Jewell trigger, my own bolt knob, nightforce ATACR:

Beautiful rifle! Keith is awesome. He had sent me a pic of your build while we were discussing camo colors. You certainly picked a winner. Congrats!

Got my XLR Carbon Chassis on Friday! Looks great, big thanks to Kyle! Great packaging, fits perfect, and great communication.
If you're thinking about getting one of his chassis systems, feel confident working with XLR. I was a little worried about the barrel not being centered in the hand guard due to the variations from Remington, but mine is perfect!

While I'm waiting for my higher rings to come in, I decided to pull it all apart and paint it. I'll post pics when it's done. Can't wait to shoot it.

One question for Kyle though... What's the threaded hole in the back of the "buffer tube" for?

Just a note of caution for those reading about ring height. Required ring height is dependent on the scope base height and the actual scope objective diameter. Just because someone is using a certain ring height does not mean that it will work for you. Scope bases vary in height and objective diameters are all different depending on manufacturer. You can have (2) 50mm scope with different diameters because 50mm is the glass size not the scope diameter. Use this formula so you know what you actually need:

(All units in inches. Ring height measured from top of base to scope center line. Sloped bases add .035" to height every six inches objective extends from base.)

For Evolution chassis:
(actual objective diameter/2) + .22 - base height = required ring height

Anyone know what grade, length and thread pitch the action bolts are for an XLR chassis with Rem 700SA? I got a used chassis but it came with no action bolts so looking for a little luck here :)

Thanks!

Our receiver screws are 1/4-28x1/2 for the front and 1/4-28x2 for the rear. Socket cap screws.

I got my XLR Carbon Chassis painted and installed on my R700 SPS .308 and I love it! Fits like a glove, the machine work is incredible, and I see no problems with it. I did need to switch out to high TPS rings and using a 20 MOA base, there's less than 1/8" of space between the scope bell and the hand guard. I'm hoping the scope caps Im getting will work, if not, I'll modify them to work since I like a low scope. Also I think I might add a folding stock mechanism just for cleaning. My cleaning rod goes under the cheek riser, but I have my butt plate raised real high and the rod will scrape it where it is. The rifle fits me the best with the butt plate high. I've also canted the whole stock about 5 degrees and it feels the most comfy there. I love the almost infinite adjustability of this chassis. I can't wait to shoot it!

Thanks again Kyle!

Edit with a new pic of the folder
Just wanted to say thanks to Kyle at XLR industries for the great "Warranty". I put that in quotes because He went way beyond what I expected as I had fallen off a cliff with my rifle in hand and had tried to impale myself on the mag release prior to breaking it off the chassis. Happy to say the chassis survived my accident and is built strong enough to stop a 230lb package mid flight! No damages to the rifle other than a few scratches and the broken lever. I called Kyle to buy some replacement parts and he supplied me with a complete new trigger assembly free of charge! I can't say enough of how well built these are! The new parts fit perfectly and I am back to shooting tiny groups again.

I did take the chance to upgrade to the new style folder and I have to say it is way better than the ACE folder. Much smaller so you can chock the top of the grip without contacting the hinge assembly and it locks up tight! There is a built in adjustment to allow for making it even tighter and it opens and closes will no effort now! Picked up a few extra rails and am even using a few on my PGW Coyote as they fit perfect for a low profile mounting spot. Will get a few new pics up after the next trip out.

Till then, a Huge Thank you for the excellent service and a great product!

I ordered an xlr a while back for my savage 10fpck. I couldn't fit my reloads in the aics mag so I bought an alpha mag put my scope on and sighted it in. Upon firing the mag keeps dropping out of the magwell a bit that it won't pick up the next round when you cycle the bolt. This should work right, what's going on?
