I have a new 6.5cm being built and am in the market for a chassis. I currently have a mcrees precision that I could use, but im pretty intrigued with the XLR. The rifle will be built on a Rem 700 action with a 26" Bartlein MTU contour and NF ATACR.

Im looking for opinions and thoughts on overall performance, weight balance and functionality. The rifle will be mainly used as a weekend shooter with the occasional hunt.

Thanks!

Get it. Now.

Love my 6.5 CM with XLR chassis.

A quality product made in the USA, installed a savage fcp 308 in one and couldn't be happier, truly a drop in product, got the folder also nice lock up with no slack fits nicely in eberlestock pack,

If I would have realized their business hours were Mountain Time and not Pacific - I would have ordered one today - DOH! Talked to Kyle, and Ill be ordering the Element tomorrow for my Rem 700 SPS Tactical. I've been drooling over one for a while now.

Kyle is fantastic and really works with you. I love my xlr carbon... Definitely the envy of my friends!
I have a savage model 10, and it isn't a heavy chassis. I think the handguard length is perfect and the setup is really over-built. I shoot heavy duty guns and this setup suits me real well.

Do it. Kyle and crew are amazing people. I love my carbon chassis. Hands down the nicest rig that I've ran to date!

Accurate Ordnance 6.5creed + XLR Carbon = Greatness Level 100

Xlr chassis system. Tell me your thoughts

I had the original XLR and actually had many issues with it...

The XLR was amazing when I first got it but, the handguard felt "off" and there was some play...Not much but, there was some. -- In the grand scheme of things I know it doesn't matter because the action --> Barrel are all that matters but, on a $900 chassis, this was an issue.

Kyle is an amazing CS person...WHEN and IF you can get a-hold of him. I called, emailed up to wazoo, the only time I actually got a response from Kyle was when I bitched HERE in the thread.

I sent the rifle to Kyle's FFL (A bit of a fiasco but, Kyle came through) and tt first I thought it was my barrel being off, which was partially true (Kyle identified this and placed sole blame on this), Savage had kinked the barrel from factory (Was off 5*) -- However, when the rifle was returned and my new McGowan came (Also had the receiver trued in this window), it just became clear how badly the handguard was actually off. -- I'm not talking canted 90* high or low -- I'm talking pivoted hard right, practically hitting the handguard.

After complaining here again -- Kyle sent a new handguard...I sent the old one back -- Put it on and it was STILL canted.

At this point it became obvious it was the chassis itself. I emailed Kyle again, called again, no answer -- Complained here and I had a phone call offering a new chassis.

Got the new chassis and the cant was mostly gone but, by this time I had just had enough of the situation so, I sold it on the hide with the information that the handguard was slightly off.

The gentleman that bought it, I believed lapped it, which completely solved the issue.

Again -- Kyle's CS is AMAZING, when you can get a hold of him (hopefully this has become a non-issue) but, I thought I'd share my story.

I went with McCree -- They treated me incredibly well and low and behold when I dropped the barreled action in -- PERFECT. - I can't say that for the XLR.

I understand now, on the XLR that's been addressed with the handguard shape but, it was kind of a nightmare for 2-3 months trying to figure out what was wrong!

If you go with an XLR, I'd recommend upgrading to the folding stock option. This will make it sooo much easier to clean your rifle. I do not have the folder, and every time I want to clean, I have to remove the adjustable butt pad, and cheek rest so I can get a cleaning rod in through the breech end.

I've been running the Element for the past couple months. It's a very nice design. I normally shoot a Rock Solid and the Element is every bit as good with a few more added comfort features. I would reccommend one to anybody.

If you're looking for a XLR chassis for a Remington action then call Red Hawk Rifles. I had them build me a Remington 700P 300 Win Mag in an Evolution chassis and it came out great. I just got an email from them today announcing a sale on the XLR chassis and they have them in stock for the Remington 700 action.
