XLR Element vs KRG X-Ray?

I got the credit card out and I'm ready to order, but I just cant seem to make up my mind. I prefer the look and lighter weight of the KRG, but the folder option for the XLR is very appealing to me.

I keep going back and forth in my head. I know they're both very new, but I'd welcome some opinions to help make a decision.

I guess you need to assess the value of the folding option for you. Me? The folder isn't worth much. I'd buy the KRG everyday. Others will place much greater value on the folding stock. You need to decide for you. Be honest with yourself. Is the feature just cool? (nothing wrong with that BTW), or does it provide other value for you?

The XLR folding mechanism is very positive and has a micro adjustment set screw to set the closing tension. I also prefer the vertical stop/lip forward of the mag well. It makes bracing against a barrier easy.
Just my $.02...worth everything you've paid for it.

For me the decision was made based on the butt stock styles. I just prefer the tube style rear ends.

I have bean considering my first chassis based build.
This is the same decision I've bean struggling with. Considering the lop adjustment standard for the element design vs spacer on the x-ray,only relevant do to my rifles being used by the wife on occasion and XLR's support of all the actions I work with..... I am leaning about 90% toward the element.
Of course, I run savage and tikka so the tikka is the only possible contest between xlr and krg.
Xlr has just buried any chassis competition for my future savage considerations and I have not even held one yet.....

This is only my 2nd rifle and will be my first aftermarket stock/chassis. I can see the benefits of having a folding stock as far as overall size and cleaning, but if I'm completely honest with myself it really is more of a "cool factor" than anything. My rifle has a 16.5" barrel so a folder would make for a very tidy package. I was dead set on the element until I started looking at the X-Ray, it is a damn good looking chassis and the 3.1lb weight is appealing. I wish I had a way to check them out in person before ordering.

I shot with the XLR crew at the JC Steel match in February. Since then, three of us have converted to Elements.

Personally I would prefer something that "feels" more like a bolt gun than an AR platform. I think I've made my decision to wait until after the summer and save up some pennies for the KRG Whiskey 3 Folder. (Gen 4) I'm a firm believer in buy once cry once and figured if I have enough for either the element or xray, I may as well just keep saving for what I REALLY want. Just my opinion of course!

It's tough looking at these stocks only on the internet and making an informed decision. Would you guys agree that the ambiance of the X-ray is more tactical, and the ambiance of the Element is more target shooting oriented?

My feelings exactly, I recently got a KRG Whiskey 3 (foldable) and it is just amazing...
You will be extremely happy with your decision when UPS truck shows up with your new stock.

My priorities are:
1.Ergonomics that work with my body- try before you buy
2.Proven Ruggedness -.mil or competition
3.Weight- right weight,not light weight- same goes for pigs
4.Features-a like a folding mechanism (use more for ease of cleaning)
5.Quality of execution- some chassis are just too complicated.
Buy what fits you and your budget- don't buy crap and don't buy from people who can't manage a business well....more about that after I receive my stock from a mfg.....there are too many good options to have to deal with that crap.

Just from a match shooters perspective, you rarely see anyone competing with a KRG (atleast in the PRS matches in the last couple years). You do however see lots of XLR's (mostly Evo's since the Element has only been out a few months). I have a Element coming that I'll be giving a try. I'm a Rock Solid Stocks fan, but the Element offers alot of adjustment that I personally like that I dont have with the RS.

SO I have never really used a xlr, handled a few of them but never really worked them over. I do own 3 krg W3's and just ordered my first xray. I LOVE the KRG product. It is SUPER easy to fit to any one, the ergonomics are amazing and they are a dream to shoot in comp, we have a bunch of guys that run them in competition up here in the NW. Also I believe the folding option is over rated. I have a folding krg and I find I never use the folding option. Just my 2 cents

I was in that group that shot JC Steel with Kyle and the crew from XLR. One of my guys won the new Element off the prize table and two or three of us have since purchased the new Elements after seeing them and messing with it.

Since I switched over I am extremely happy with the fit, finish and functionality and I have zero issues that I have found so far. I previously ran a Mcrees folder chassis and found it to be too heavy for carrying/packing around matches that require lots of hiking. JC Steel was 3-5 miles worth of walking and hauling around all your gear. With the XLR I was able to cut over 1.5lbs off the rifle setup and still have a folding chassis. I love the sleakness of the Element and the adjustibilty in the stock setup is great. I cannot say enough postive things about this chassis and I don't think you can make a 'bad' choice here between the two.... My support is on the XLR for sure.

I've had my XLR Element Chassis out a few times. I love the adjustability, it's light, and feels balanced. I didn't order it with the folding option, but I have added it since. Now I don't have to lower my cheek piece to get a cleaning rod down the barrel. Simply fold the stock out of the way, easy. I can also go with a shorter case.

I am currently working on a review for the XLR Element. After spending a little time checking out the X-ray. I would say Element absolutely. The Folder is definitely a nice feature. You also go mounting points for picatinny rails along the forearm.

I got to fondle an element at the K&M PRC a few weeks ago.

I'm glad I bought the X-Ray, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. At least for me, it's just more ergonomic, and I prefer the feel of it. I did top mine off with a spigot mount (side sling point, bipod, and side rail for camera), as well as a barricade stop on the bottom.

The stock on the element just didn't feel right to me, but I'm not sure why. It might have also been the pistol grip that was on the stock at the time, as I definitely prefer a vertical grip, not the swept back A2 AR grip that was on it.

Once I got the right spacers in my X-Ray, it just felt right to me.

WoodenPlank's comments sealed the deal for me: I do not like the feel of vertical grips so I called Kyle today and placed an order for an Element.
