Suppressors YHM Resonator - why not?

I'm curious as to why I shouldn't buy the Yankee Hill Machine Resonator considering the 16oz weight, 132-135 decibel stats, QD mounting system, and realistic price?

I've had a Tactical Solutions Axiom rimfire can for a couple years now, and would like a centerfire can for my .223 AR varmint gun and 16" barreled AR10 for recoil and noise reduction.

Just looking for a good functional tool to preserve my hobby, ears, and beat up shoulder.

It's the rimfire cans fault.

These look like a great can. I haven't seen one shot I person but i haven't found any bad reviews. The only thing keeping me from adding one of these and/or a YHM turbo to my collection is the new, extended ATF wait times.

I have one that I purchased. Unfortunately, has not made parole yet, so cannot comment on the performance. Based on the other YHM cans I own, I feel confident it will perform just fine.

I have one in jail also. Full auto rated, good qd system, and good DB ratings for around $500. Seems hard to beat at that price point.

They almost seem to good to be true in today's suppressor market. No hype just good solid manufacturing and performance from a company that appears to very well run. The condition and scale of their facilities speaks volumes to me.

Is the Silencer Shop the best avenue for purchase?

My first can took about 380 days to acquire a couple years ago, is that close to the current wait time?

This wait concerns me. I have Rugged 9mm can from Silencership on order and was hoping to have it soon. Looks like at this rate it will be fall time or later...

Being an old Oregon off-road motorcycle rider for 45+ years and watching riders in the staging being constantly harassed and fined by noise/spark police year after year...… obtaining firearm suppression for environmental and hearing protection reasons is truly a f'n joke.

5 years ago the fine for an inadequate spark arrestor or 105db sound violation was $225.

As to the OPs question.... there is no reason not to buy. While I don't have a resonator, I do have the old heavy brute known as the Phantom M2 and I have used, abused and misused it for many years with no complaints.

I'm keeping my eye on this. It's not specifically marketed as a precision rifle suppressor, but I don't know enough about suppressors to judge whether it'd make a good one or not. The price is enticing, but it makes me wonder if I'm giving something important up.

You are correct about it not being marketed as a Precision Rifle suppressor and there is certainly an argument for other brands, styles, and types of suppressors. However most YHM can owners I have talked to do not experience a degradation of accuracy.... which has been my experience over thousands of rounds. Their cans are typically heavier than their competitors and that's about all I can say negatively about them.

I'd buy one of these because 400 bucks for a .30 caliber can from YHM is insane.

They are great cans. Built like a tank, YHM's old can's were super heavy, but the resonator is 16 ounces, which isn't bad at all for a 30 cal can that's full auto and 300 rum rated. I have no degradation of accuracy at all with it. And I love their mounting system, I think it's one of the best out there.

No matter what can you decide on (the resonator is seriously a great can though), buy it from Hansohn. Can't recommend them enough.

Definitely an underpriced can. Lots of value in a YHM suppressor these days. I have a YHM Titanium Phantom .30 that cost me over $1,000 five years ago and I’ve beat it up quite a bit and I have no complaints. I’ve had lots of good experience with YHM customer service as well as direct ordering mounts. A+ company in my books. You can’t beat their mounting system either, it really is top notch.

I have a Resonator in jail (301 days since pending) and a Turbo (5.56) in possession since December. The mounting system is great and the overall value is unmatched IMO. I have seen and shot one of these cans personally. It weighed 15.5 ozs and was shockingly quiet for its price. If I didn’t already have my sig can I would be all over one of these, wish they had come out before I had bought mine...

It's my understanding that disassembly and cleaning isn't really and issue with centerfire suppressors and I can't recall reading otherwise. That said, I'd never have a rimfire can that couldn't be. Rimfire is amazingly dirty out the muzzle. Please don't tip off the EPA

You don't need to be able to disassemble center fire cans. Don't shoot rim fire through them and you won't need to clean them. Most center fire cans are not able to be disassembled.

Btw I did get mine, and I love it!
It's a no nonsense no frills can and works great, I just put it on my son's hunting rifle. I also love the mounting system, works great and I think it's fool proof.

Highly recommend it! Especially due to the price, it's dirt cheap

I have a gemtech tracker and an Omega 300 to compare to, gemtech tracker is lightweight and sits on my hunting rifle, the yhm moves between a 300 blk sbr and my son's hunting/ precision rifle
The Omega does it all with either direct threaded or the mounting system, but it costs more than the yhm and the gemtech together

Just FYI, the new YHM cans are using the same threads as omegas and dead airs so you can use them with other mount systems if you want. Plan b, key-mo, etc. Tough to see a downside with the YHM stuff now.

Has anyone compared the resonator against a harvester, SAS reaper, or TBAC ultra 9 or 7? I have a Reaper and am constantly disappointed in its performance with supers (I use it on my 260, 6.5crd, 223rem. It works excellent with my 300bo Subs. I'm interested to hear about the "tone". The harvester and TBAC are incredibly pleasent where the Reaper is sharp or piercing.

I have the Turbo, Resonator, an older Specwar, a Sandman Ti, Sandman K, Mask 2, a Wolfman and others.

The new YHM cans are wonderful value, just be aware they are somewhat high backpressure if you’re running it on a gas-gun.

If you’re putting it on a bolt gun, pretty hard to argue with the price and performance.

Yes, I run it on my 6.5 Grendel and 300 Blackout. It's been great, no issues, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. There are better cans, but you can't beat the value.

I am rather intrigued with this model, though there isn't much user feedback other than this thread it seems. I've read there are better cans out there but that this one is a great value. My wonder is HOW is the resonator not as good as others? From what I'm seeing the resonator has the quietest suppression sound for 308 in its size, vs sandman and tbac ultra 7, etc.? My understanding is that the ultra 7 has a better minimal poi shift, but i haven't read anything BAD on the resonator, such as accuracy is lost and repeatability is bad. My use for a can would be for matches and general shooting use.

Yep, the Turbo 2 and Resonator 2 have Omega mount threads and are replacing the original cans in YHM's lineup.

With a TI direct thread mount, the R2 is only an ounce heavier than a Dead Air Nomad, and sports an Inconel blast baffle. The T2 is very light, with similar construction, and there is supposedly a Resonator K on the way.

I kinda prefer it to have a fixed mount to the can instead of modular end cap. I always end up unscrewing the can from the mount instead of the can + mount from the muzzle device. I may snag a few more of the original resonators if anyone puts them on close out with the new model coming out.

I recommend high temp Loctite for the adapter.

Here is "the bad" for me when I compare it to my other (more expensive) cans.

It's heavy
Can't change mounting system
No changeable endcap.
Not as pretty as others

The welds are visible on this can, while I don't doubt their integrity, they are not as pretty as she more expensive cans.

That's it for me, still happy with the can and would buy again

I'm interested in the Resonator, especially since it threads on to Omega adapters. I'm curious about a few things:

1. Since the poster above said you can't change the mounting system, does that mean it has no direct thread option?
2. How's the accuracy? Is the POI shift repeatable?

There are omega direct thread adapters right? They should work. I'm pretty sure YHM makes them as well. In fact, I'm almost positive the can comes in DT format.
