Is that a tactical boat? So, its milspec?
Definitely MOA.Is that a tactical boat? So, its milspec?
This is very similar to the PBR seen in the movie "Apocalypse Now" and comes equipped with three .50 caliber gas firing MG's, one replica M-60, flak jackets, steel helmets, the VRC - 49 military radio set that works, as well as a Raytheon Pathfinder 2600 original model radar set.
It has two 6V53 N Detroit Diesel engines with an estimated under 2000 hours with a Glendenning Engine Sync for better fuel economy and Twin Disc M-502 reverse gears. It has a new fuel system, 2 x 82-gallon fuel tanks, and a complete, original MK-56-Mod-O twin .50 cal mount, ser. #21.
This has been converted to propeller drive and is Coast Guard compliant. Comes with a custom made Road King 24,000 lb. triple axle trailer that was made in the original Navy design, with a pintle eye for towing and guide on's for centering the boat on the trailer.
Props = + 20mph easy. Way more efficient! Why get rid of the jets for props?
Parts and maintenance thing?
With props now is this ocean going or are the hills too shallow?
Not sure who built Jezza's boat, but it was commissioned for about 100K pounds sterling at the time.Jermey Clarkson built a pretty good replica for a Grand Tour special, think it cost like 300k
I know it definitely had a Jet drive w/ reverse. Can’t remember what the power plant was.Not sure who built Jezza's boat, but it was commissioned for about 100K pounds sterling at the time.
But I don't think it was a complete replica. Turrets were nonexistent and I don't recall if it used the correct propulsion system versus a more conventional one.
Oh did it have the jet drive? I never actually saw the special, just the clips where the lads be their usual selves and Clarkson bumps into everything. Including Hammond's absolutely-not-a-personal-statement cigarette boat.I know it definitely had a Jet drive w/ reverse. Can’t remember what the power plant was.
I bet the euros have all kinds of dumb rules about not being able to make fake turrets

But possibly the lack of turrets was a cost-saving measure for practicality. No open bow turret, more room inside and less water to worry about needing to drain? Or some structural reason, depending on how it was made.
That's why I wasn't sure if it had the actual jet system or not. I thought maybe it was just a looks-like-a-PBR-on-the-outside kinda thing.
I don't have Amazon or whatever, so no GT for me aside from clips etc on youtube, alas. But I'd love to be able to watch it. I saw they're putting Top Gear back on Netflix but I don't know if it'll be the lads or the newer presenters, and I'm really only interested in the mad trio. The special is worth watching.
It had the correct type of jet drive as they tried to make it pretty much as close to exactly original as possible, minus the weapons. (no stupid fake armaments).
The challenges of getting each boat type around were interesting to watch and kind of explained why the locals still use the boats they do.
Them trying the river boats in the open sea was pretty funny.
GT, Jack Ryan, and Clarkson farm are worth getting it for a couple months.I don't have Amazon or whatever, so no GT for me aside from clips etc on youtube, alas. But I'd love to be able to watch it. Holy sh!t ! Did they eat it? Ive heard mountain lion is delicious.. idk about Bengal Tiger tho. I think Charlie Sheen drinks Tiger blood as well..?
My father-in-law's A-team somewhere in Vietnam. All I could get out of him was that it was eating the villagers and that they had to put a guard on it to keep the 'yards from stealing the whiskers...strong medicine.Holy sh!t ! Did they eat it? How do they behave in open ocean? Those river boats are great in the river, lake and delta type areas.
Just don't take them out in the actual ocean, they don't do well.
How do they behave in open ocean?
Not the most knowledgable on boats... but why does that happen? Are they too bouyant for bigger waves and get thrown around? Like does it have to do with so little of the boat going below the water line/sitting so high up in the water and is at the mercy of waves more due to that?Watch the end of the Grand Tour river boat special.
It's pretty funny.
Let's just say they weren't sure if their boats were going to stay on top of the water or not.
That looks like Larry Dring.
