You know you're shooting long range when:

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

When you use the top of the scope mount for an iron sight, after having maxed out the scope adjustment plus mill dots at the lowest power setting.

Use tracer to rough in for the 35 MPH full value cross wind during the lulls in the "breeze" and the long range tracers burn out on you.

Run out of adjustment on the MaDuce ground mount and have to break out the AA mount.

My partner & I actually do use GPS & sat imagery to range targets in some instances -

But back to the topic, when you have time to put in a fresh chew before the bullet arrives at the target, almost 4 seconds after we broke the initial shot.

MM - The older Mk4 16X fixed power has 150 MOA Elv. travel, that is what I run. This was also made in 20X version, limited production, even though I have never seen one in the civilian market.

When taking aim at a deer and you have to time the shot.... when she starts to bend her neck down to take a bit of grass....and you pull the trigger. Otherwise, you will miss the deer during bullet flight time of the 300 gr SMK at 2950 fps.

BTDT...

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

When you start looking for thiner paper targets because the round doesn't have enough oomph anymore.

When you start to wonder if the balistic software takes into account the lesser air density at the apex.

When you notice that because of the sun's gravity, you need less elevation at noon than midnight and even less during an eclipse.

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

When "SpinD" works backward.

When the CheyTac team that's always on History Channel ranges the target and starts sobbing.

When you make the shot, do a four day stalk to the target and lower him gently to the ground as he keels over so he doesn't make any noise.

When even Bob Lee Swagger can't make the shot.

Boomerang can't track the shot.

Yuma Proving Grounds Doppler Radar tracks your shot coming straight down.

When the HorusVision reticle tree is more like a sapling to your sighter shot.

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

... you seriously thought of recosidering using a high scope ring to the front and low rings to the rear of your scope to get more elevation adjustments

Once you've crossed the 4th property line, and you're posting girlfriends and wives on gravel roads that need closed between "here" and "there".

Yep, I like this one...

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

when you are in texas, you shoot, the bullet circumnavigates the planet, chuck norris takes the hit behind you "cuz thats where the ranger's gonna be.." but only after microsecond long deliberation about the speed and direction of the slight breeze coming from 3, sun spots, buttercup, farmers almanac, quantum mechanics, eotvos, cosine, ley lines, ninja, astological signs, surf conditions and spindrift relative to hemisphere (both at muzzle and at target)but not necesarrily in that order.

Re: You know you're shooting long range when:

You have a 1500y zero and your scope can no longer dial in anything under 1000y.

You forget BC's under 1.0 actual do exist.

Even your Geovid is telling you it doesn't know anymore and just hold off two six-packs to see what happens

You only need 50 solid bullets in total, as you can just pcik them off of the ground near the target as that is where they bounced towards after velocity hit 10fps.
