From ZCO's shot reel...

Who's got the details?

Nothing Shot it wasn’t quite ready on my end, but moving forward, you might get a few first looks at stuff not on display

The best stuff this show was under the counters or in the rooms, not on the floor

Gotta love the SHOT within SHOT (reminds me of the year I heard of it existing was of all the secret/not-so-secret S&B drama). Always thought that attending SHOT is money down a rat hole with little to show but swag and the flu/"crud" unless you got this kinda connect.

Rando influcencer SHOT attendee: "We're here at SHOT getting an 'exclusive' look"
Deeply rooted industry types:

It's like the Seekins' Slam, to me the best cross over, hunting rifle I saw, especially since it wasn't a lever action

I was handling the Slam last year... behind the booth.

The Show within in the show is better, Under the Counter at ZCo, upstairs, behind the curtain, etc...

The influencer push at SHOT is bad right now, it's seems to me, to be the loophole for guys to get in as the media access is huge. The cameras are everywhere, but yes, the cool guy stuff is rarely out in public. I saw one crazy husband and wife influencer team and the wife would hold CUE Cards for both her husband and the interviewee the cards were nuts

For me the coolest thing I saw on the show floor, and again it wasn't finished, just a prototype was the Scout Air Rifle, they are approaching 700 yard range and the accuracy and adaptability is crazy cool

Disgusting. The swag collectors and gawkers have evolved/made way for "influencers".

The rich irony is that when one goes to search for: "(company) SHOT 2024" the over-saturation and algorithm wizards have made it so that despite the number of talking heads, I submit:

"2024 has been the most poorly/disjointedly covered SHOT Show in the past 15 years".
I'm having trouble finding a lot of coverage/info from niche companies that would have been covered in the past.

I'm ready for us to move onto our next atrocity...

Honestly, shot moved on from Precision Rifle other than to say, we have it...Today the idea of a new precision rifle is adding an MDT Chassis to it. Dont' know what to do, call MDT...

It's back to Handgun and Carbine, they had the big giant demos, you could not walk past Geisselle, packed with guys trying to feel that Larue effect. Now LaRue is a sad booth in the corner with nothing to show, just a tent to hide the shame.

Electro Optics are the next biggest thing, Thermal, weapons mounted under $5k, huge market right now

Then Lever guns and Influencer candy crush, stuff that looks super cool but is really just a Henry in an MDT Chassis LOL

And none of the influencers are talking about the Seekins Slam, its all about the new crap from PSA, Bergara, Taurus, and so forth.

The slam is the coolest thing I’ve seen released and the only thing that I feel I have to have.

"PSA is really coming out swinging"

Can't wait till these Johnny-come-lately's fine out about SHOT vaporware

Yeah all the dildos were all about poormettos hot new steaming piles of dog shit. Whatever they release no matter when they release it and how crappy it is the poors will eat it up. I don’t get it.

😂😂😂

I don’t get it.

The mind of the "poors" is one of mental gymnasitcs. "Just as good as..." is their mating call.

For when you're too lazy to be cool enough to be issued an HK MP7...(or don't have the pull to get one LAV style)
For when you're too fucking cheap to go with a Tommy Built melty boy or clone...
For when you're too dumb to realize they really aren't that great...not even considering the cost to keep 'em running/fed...

PSA will have you covered with....well, something that "looks the part" for under $1k.

700 yards for an air rifle? I remember when 70 yards was pushing it for an air rifle...

Now this has me interested. I believe that, for most LPVO/MPVO concepts as we've gotten into the 10x range, the reticle and adjustable parallax shortcomings are where there are opportunities for the most improvement in this market. I'm definitely interested in what ZCO has come up with...

I have limited experience with a lot of PSA product line, but I have AK-E and AK-74 from them and I have to admit, they are pretty decent. I have built several ARs out of their kits for new AR owners and they are a very good way to get into the AR world for not a lot of money. The only other PSA product I have is a KS-47. It could use some dehorning of the edges, but from a functionality standpoint, no issues.

No experience with their other stuff.

That's all well and good...it serves a purpose. As with most things in this industry, its the fanboys and white knights that champion products and speak in generalities that are annoying. The specs may be adequate or perhaps even over-built for certain segments of the population or ideal for someone wanting a spare/trainer and not break the bank.

Getting into the weeds is another matter. One thing I have learned the hard way in 20 years of mucking with ARs from the days of "must be Colt" to todays boutique shit is that every build has its little surprises and like a woman, and you don't really know what you're going to get to you really take time and get your hands on it...even if you're messing with the supposed "tight tolerance" stuff like Hodge or the proprietary KACs and HKs.

Cheers

Bringing this sorta back on track,

I have to remind myself that even "seeing" the prototype don't mean shit... but I have a touch more faith in ZCO than in S&B or these cats:
